Shes not Anne Frank, but she studied Nazis + Aushwitz so vigorously that she recognized him when she saw him
It wasnt a demon, the boy was possessed by the devil and he possessed Sister Mary Eunice. The Devil "died" when SME died because fire as seen as cleansing, symbolically of course.
The Angel of Death OS a common horror trope, it's not really something that needed any explaining imo.
You are kinda right though, like for example the alien plot line never resonated with me.
