an average of 5 million per album is ok. I don't get why everyone keeps expecting hits to sell an album, when we have a billion cases when it doesn't. Look at Beyonce and 4, Ariana and ME, and so on

pop is mainstream. pop gets tons of radio airplay.
jazz is not mainstream. jazz does not get radio airplay.

? This shouldn't be hard to figure out. It's just an extra project Gaga did. Everyone expected it to bomb and it didn't - that's why it's a great bragging point. Critical/commercial success no one (even monsters) anticipated. It didn't even have singles Itd be like comparing The Remix to OOTB or something dumb like that.

Britney had a radio ban in the US during the Britney era, and still managed to get a well known, top thirty hit out of it that's more iconic than anything Gaga will ever make.

And In The Zone had 3 #1 hits worldwide. Gagz fizzled out when MTN stalled at 29. Now go listen to Red and Blue.

Like I said before Lady Gaga, Alicia Keys, Taylor Swift and Beyonce sold over 13.5 or 14.1 ( which the Katy stans is claiming that what she sold) after their three albums.

All it takes is having a look under the 'legacy' section on TD wiki page to see just how much she achieved during that era. It's crazy. The 5 #1's, the radio records she broke, having 69 consecutive weeks in the Top 10 on the Hot 100. She's pretty much got that record on lock for a good while yet. And then there's PRISM where she played the Super Bowl and got 2 huge #1's from it and the Forbes thing. Her career is very impressive so early on and it's not front-loaded or anything like that. She has done very well so far.
