But atleast her songs with them slayed. Lemme reconsider, if the song is fire I'm good. But I think it's Nick J so it's gonna be great tbh

They also used her to push Jessie J. Literally they make her collab with all their hit acts for a hit.
Also, I think I know why she sang JALBOYH at the grammys. Remember how the VMAs had the T.V. exclusive of Break Free/Bang Bang? I think she promised the Grammys an exclusive, but since she sang on Jimmy Fallon the week before she couldn't do One Last Time. They probably forced her to do that rushed JALBOYH performance, poor girl
EDIT: Mac Miller isn't on Republic? Who woulda thought.

Y'all are so mean. At least be respectful for some stans (like me and moonlight) who stan for both
Nick wrote and produced for Ari when she was unknown & they've been friends for a while. I don't see what's wrong with that. Also their voices would fit well together and they're both on the R&B/Pop route so.

I just don't think doing songs with Nick Jonas is going to help her move towards a more mature and refined sound. If this this the route she's going for... fine.. I'll probably support it, but I guess she'll just be a pop tart with a great voice for the rest of her career. I can live with that since I know there will still be great live performances and those occasional times where she sings covers.

She said there would only be one collab on the album too lol. I was hoping it'd be someone cool (like I really wanted her to work with Gambino again).
No offense to Nick (and his stans). Just wasn't what I was expecting.

Yea I'm still not here for anything with Nick but who knows all of Ariana's features always end up great so I'm not too worried.

She screwed that up when she released Focus
Don't blame Nick for her short comings.

I wanted her to work with Nick, but I wanted it to be for his album I need Ari to have a 100% solo project. But 1 collab won't hurt as long as it's good.
If Be Alright is the next single, I really hope it lives up to the hype we've created. It sounds so promising, but it could definitely be a My Everything snippet teas

Focus underperforming should show Ariana and Republic that the "2.0's" are getting old, she needs something fresh for the next single. I wonder if they'll go toward the sound that Justin is currently smashing with (tropical/deep house) with Be Alright (that could be underwhelming for all we know), or go back to the Pop/R&B sound from debut that critics and her fans want her to stay in.
It's bad enough that her image took a big hit with Donut Gate last year (now slowly but surely recovering), now putting out below average records won't help her situation. The 2nd single has to be the single. Can't afford to slip up. Bottom line. Or we're looking at future horrific numbers for Moonlight.

But a collab with Justin Bieber will help? just because he's smashing right now doesn't make it better. I didn't see y'all complaining when she did the What Do You Mean remix. Also Focus isn't that mature either and I don't see how you were expecting a "mature" era if that was the lead single (which I have to add, I love even if y'all hated it)

Ok, but some stans are excited. I have seen tons of people excited. Nick is also trying the "mature phase" she is doing and they're both actually focusing on the R&B/Pop route like I said before. I don't see how this could turn out bad.
But don't worry. It'll probably won't happen, which is sad because I was so excited. It's a shame you all are judging this already when you haven't even heard anything..,
No one was expecting **** from the weeknd collab yet it turned out great.

Anyway. So excited for the album, I'll be buying like all of her albums regardless of the collabs.

lol tea. I don't see why everyone acts like she's trying a mature career out all the sudden just because there's a simple rumor
If I remember correctly, I don't see how Nick was "making a move on his career" by working for her, writing and producing for her album when she was unknown but he did it anyway and then non-stans didn't complain

I don't care if she smashes the charts or slays streaming... though it helps when I need to gather a Demi stan here and there.
What I want is something intimate, exposed, and emotional. Bring me the power ballads. Where are the revealing, lyric heavy bops that Ariana's voice can carry?
Why are you marketing Ariana as this super talented act, but she hasn't had a I Will Always Love You, The Heart Will Go On, Hurt, Hero, When You Believe moment yet? I mean, I don't want to force something like that on her, but are we supposed to just be twerking to high notes for the rest of our lives? And if she's in the studio with Max Martin again then I guess she's just a chart chaser.
WHERE ARE THE BLACK PRODUCERS?
Although, I could use more cashmere cat
Bxtch better find Babyface... Dark Child... and if she wants to get ratchet... Danja 👀👀👀
ugh, David bowie just died and I'm in my feeling sorry for the rant.

I agree about the ballads part. Ariana's voice is too good to be wasted on disposable pop music. Not saying pop music is bad but she has yet to release anything....worthy of acclaim or praise of that on the level of legends we often compare her to.
I just hope this record is a stepping stone for greater things to come in the future. There's no reason for us to put so much weight on her shoulders and expect her to be releasing more refined, matured and grown music right away but our intentions (from what I've seen) are in the right place and she's seemed to take some of our critiques into consideration as of lately.

I can agree with that Echelon. I would love for her to try a mature era, but you can't just say "I'm going mature" and get "mature" collabs out of nowhere, she needs to prove the world her music is mature and the rest will come.
Sometimes I wish she released more ballads or songs like Yours Truly even tho I loved My Everything.
She could smash if she released a ballad for the first single, but apparently her (or her team/label) aren't on the same page since they keep releasing songs like Focus that don't show her best potential so we can't really judge right now.

Yass I was hoping for a track with Babyface on My Everything, or Harmony Samuels Definitely agree about selecting more ballads where she can perform stripped down performances and showcase her vocal prowess more, hopefully that's what Moonlight will follow if the rumour of a more R&B sound is true...
