I'm just v curious on why some muslims interpret the verses to their own convenience. I've read from various sources and all claimed that LGBT is wrong is Islam. Can someone enlighten me pls.

Bare with me, but let me underline that my statement can be different with other Muslims so it's up to you to decide which version you believe in
Historical fact does not explain the case of the condemnation of the practice of homosexuality at the time of Prophet Muhammad. The first execution of the homosexual happened afterwards, during Abu Bakr's reight. Then, at the time of Umar bin Khattab, he instructed that a gay person must be burned alive. However, since it was heavily criticized, then his sentence was commuted to stoning.
Understanding of Islamic theology about homosexuality is always associated with the story of Lot. That kind of understanding is considered as a final and absolute. However, a critical study due to the demands of society and the invention of science and technology led to a number of new questions. Were the followers of Lut damned because they had a sexual orientation that is not possible to deny because it is "destiny" (biological gay), or they were accursed for expressing their illicit sexual behavior, such as sodomy? Then, if homosexuals are not expressing illicit sexual behavior, namely sexual behavior containing elements of violence, coercion, and harm to health, such as sodomy, rape, pedophilia, prostitute, or swingers, will they remain to be damned? Is the curse of Allah to the people of Lut who are homosexuals more powerful than the curse of Allah to the people of Noah that are not?
It's the fact that the religious interpretations are very hegemonize by heterosexuality, that is ideology that requires human to be paired with opposite sex and subject to the rules of heterosexuality which outlines the purpose of marriage for procreation, producing offspring.
In the mainstream Muslim community, rejection of homosexuality is seen as absolute, can not be questioned again. Each attempt to criticize the Islamic view about this, let alone change them, it is considered as against shariah (Islamic law).
do I need to elaborate more?
