Okay, I'm not going to pretend that I read all of this, but I WILL comment on this from here on. Trust me.
So much Radiohead and Kanye in the backtracks. It makes me so happy. *sniff* And as for the songs, well, what I have heard, I either like a lot (FKA twigs has my heart )...or it's Hilary Duff.

When the Ultraviolence tracklisting first was released I immediately called that this song would be the worst song on the album (each of her albums seem to have a song that's obviously the worst) but this was kinda the opposite. It's funny how self-referential and low-key ironic it's meant to be (other songs on the album try to do this and fail). It's a very moody and cute track. Lana outdid herself.
• • • 19 • • • Banks • Under the Table
There's something about Banks dumb, contrived-'dark' aesthetic that is very sigh-worthy - on the flipside, it's very hard to deny her excellent songwriting here and there. She has some chipping away to do before she's great, but this ballad cut from Goddess (a pretentious name in itself, lol ) shows a lot of talent and beauty. It's superb and very pleasant.
• • • 18 • • • Tinashe • Cold Sweat
"I like bein' alone," croons Tinashe on the opening lyric of this R&B masterpiece. There's something about the flow in this track that's so addicting and so very genius - maybe it's that instrumental The lyricism is also unexpectedly great, this girl can do a LOT with so little. She's on point.
• • • 17 • • • Aphex Twin • produk 29 [101]
An interesting track from 2014 album Syro. The sounds and themes created in the song are distorted genius. The squelchy nature of the song makes it great, as well, and it almost feels like audible radioactivity existing around you. An insane creation, as is any music that's eternally difficult to put in a category.
• • • 16 • • • Cher Lloyd • Human
There's something incredible about Cher Lloyd when she gets her voice on a 100% heartfelt, top-of-lungs ballad like this one (and another which I can not spell out just yet ). Taking the mature route really worked in her favor, even if it didn't necessarily translate into success. This is some quality pop.
• • • 15 • • • Neon Hitch • Yard Sale
Ooo, Neon behind any catchy pop instrumental is something I can't say no to. Her voice was built for instrumentals like this one. Besides that, it's very accessible and almost like the female version of Macklemore's Thrift Shop Very underrated if I do say so myself. Get into it.
• • • 14 • • • Kiesza • Giant In My Heart
Coming off of Hideaway, I was slightly skeptical of whether or not to give full love and attention to Kiesza but this song fully hit home for me. The 90s-dancehall throwback is just too undeniably flaw free, tbh. Just an excellently crafted pop song, and PLEASE, that breakdown is unmatchable.
• • • 13 • • • Evian Christ • F**k Idol
A Tri Angle Records artist (I'm a sucker for 'em) as well as a sucker for random electronic producers that work with rappers low-key and make distorted post-dubstep (???) magic like this. This dude is also really funny and cool, get into this next level jam
• • • 12 • • • Lily Allen • Our Time
It's a damn lie to deny this song it's certification as an impossibly catchy pop song. It's also one of those songs that you want to shriek wasted at 2AM, kinda. If people took Lily an ounce more seriously this era maybe they would've seen the light for this, her less-trashy answer to We Can't Stop
• • • 11 • • • Charli XCX • Boom Clap
Though I had to warm up to it (odd looking back now ) this song has become one of my favorites and is undeniably one of Charli's most flawless tracks. Watching this become a worldwide smash hit was a joyride. Definitely a highlight of my summer as well as my overall involvement w/mainstream music.
