It's got nothing to do with whether one is oppressed or not, but one can be offended by negative comments directed towards someone based on their race. It's not that hard to understand.
There is more than one definition of racism. I'm sure people are refering to the sociological definition, when they say whites can't suffer racism. But yeh, there is more than one definition.
