Oh, eli. When did you become such a Gaga defender? Was it when you gave up your mod title?

The album was always an option, not a bundle from buying the tickets. Either way, MDNA still did badly but didn't it do OK WW?
Regardless, albums sales look horrible. At least PRISM is doing 40K.

MDNA was gold in my country within 1 hour of its release. (and no it's not one of flop countries) it really did quite good. not great for madonna, but good.
the only thing that flopped about it were the american second week sales. but born this way held that second week sale flop before her with just 2% less of a drop

Yeah, I see not many rock fans in this thread. It's a sales prediction thread. It's an album that came out this week. It is on topic. But obviously HDD doesn't think it's worth given a prediction for. But it is on topic.

It was a bundle:

It turns out that a hefty number of “MDNA” albums weren’t sold the usual way. Madonna’s label, Interscope, and Live Nation, which owns Ticketmaster, bundled the album with her ticket sales. For every ticket sold online to Madonna’s upcoming shows, purchasers automatically receive a copy of “MDNA.” They get a link to a free purchase on ITunes, or they can send in their mailing address for a physical CD. It doesn’t matter if the concert ticket is $52 or $350. It’s a smart marketing move for Interscope. It unnaturally inflates sales, and uses “MDNA” for what albums have become–souvenirs, or loss leaders. (Forbes)

I don't recall whether that was the first week for ticket sales, but it would make sense, because I would be shocked if they added anything less than 100K to her first week. There is no way she was doing much more than 200K without the bundle thing. The US has been snubbing her pretty consistently for 10 years. Even COADF wasn't huge the way it was everywhere else. Of course it did fine worldwide, she still has her global pull
Excuse me for going off topic. I just get my panties in a twist when people use MDNA's US numbers as if they're comparable.
This era is so unpredictable for Gaga. I mean it's been flop after flop, but I never thought "Applause" would still be in the top 20 on iTunes three months in after its disappointing first week. I say there's a 1 in 5 chance that she can salvage the era.

I don't know why people keep citing MDNA numbers. When you consider the ticketing bundle and the fact that it was massively promoted in front of 110M people, the numbers aren't impressive.
On topic, Gaga's numbers are atrocious, as predicted. The writing was on the wall when she only did 160k outside of pre-orders.

At this point, I just feel really bad for her. Laugh at her sales makes me feel like an evil

I love Christina don't get me wrong but making a mockery out of ARTPOP when both of the first singles seem and have been doing great is laughable because it kinda balances Artpop underperforming. FACT.
Wow, I'm actually defending Gaga here, I mean she's not my fave but the sudden backfire just for ***** and giggles for one's amusement is sad.

Except Christina, who really is unbothered by charts and numbers, fearlessly decided to ignore her COMEBACK single and refused to use the voice as a performance spot for it. Artpop is a bigger flop than lotus because not a single dollar was spent to saturate media outlets with Christina in order to promote the album. The other flop costed 25 million dollars so... go figure.

I hadn't said a word about Gaga until my latest post, thanks. I have a penchant for flops.

people often forget that with the ticket sales it was just in the US. not worldwide. (I know you didn't say that, just making it clear for other people)
and you actually had to pay the extra $10 for the album WITH the ticket. it wasn't like a "buy your $350 ticket, get the album for free" kind of deal. and like you said, it was an option. so I really don't see the big deal.
if it was for free with the expensive ticket then alright.. but they still had to pay $10. Artpop was $5 on Amazon, google play etc...
I mean..

Exactly, there's potential sitting here for her to do well. If she didn't have the GP's attention, Applause wouldn't be seeing this kind of longevity. If DWUW and the following singles are handled well this could become a moderate sized era.

Are you sure about that?
Sidenote--it would be silly for anyone to imply that none of the people who bought tickets would've bought MDNA. But if her next album is as bad as MDNA was, I sure won't be buying it, but I would still love to see her live.
