Aren't you excited that Beyonce new album, 'B'Day' is coming? We love her first single, "Deja Vu", featuring Jay-Z! It was the new "Crazy In Love" that got everyone dancing this summer. Well, S2S caught up with the songwriter who put pen to pad to create the hot love song: Makeba Riddick. "I wrote "Deja Vu" last summer," the Baltimore, Maryland, native recalled. In the summer of 2005, Makeba was one of the several writers invited to attend a "grind camp" at producer Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins' house in Atlantic City, NJ where they listen to tracks and write with no particular artists in mind. Rodney submitted "Deja Vu" to Beyonce who loved it, but made a few changes to it. "She just put her whole swagger on it. She brought the whole soulfulness out of it. So, you know, of course people are going to make comparisons to it with her and Jay. But really, when I co-wrote "Deja Vu" with Rodney and one of his writers -and she's a female, too -we were just talking about a situation that every female goes through with a guy that they like," Makeba explained. "Everywhere you look you think that's your guy 'cause you want to be back next to him, So it was just a prefect fit for her."
The 24-year-old songwriter, who also wrote hits for Jennifer Lopez ("All I Have"), and Rihanna ("If It's Lovin' That You Want"), spent three weeks in the studio with Beyonce writing for 'B'Day'. "I wrote with her and she's an incredible cpmceptualist that (are) just crazy. 'Cause it's like, out of all the songs on the radio, you would think that everybody's talked about everything. But she comes up with some crazy concepts and then we'll wind up just talking for hours 'cause it's something that everybody goes through," she said.
Makeba wrote five songs with Beyonce, producer Rich Harrison ("Freekum Dress" and "Creole") and Swizz Beatz ("Get Me Bodied"). Producer/songwriter Sean "The Pen" Garret and the Neptunes also worked on 'B'Day'. At the time of this writing Makeba didn't know how many of these songs would make the album, but early reports said "Freekum Dress" might be one of the singles. "It's about the dress (you put) on and your man don't want you to leave the house. 'Cause he's like, "Oh I know what's going down when you put on that dress," she said explaining the song. Makeba was still buzzing from the honor of "Deja Vu" being Beyonce lead single when she spoke to S2S. "When I heard it on the radio, it was surreal for me. I was like (gasp) this girl really used this song as her first single! I can't believe it!"

Yeah, I think "Gren Light" was "Give It To Momma".
