We're closer to the top 3! Any predictions?
Jessie J's "Domino" opens this set at #10. I wasn't a big fan of her, but when she released one of the best ballads of 2011, "Who You Are", I started to change my mind. I love the lyrics and how different it is from her previous singles... it's my opinion, of course! At #9 is Lana Del Rey's "Ride". It's her seventh and final appearance. She also has the record for most songs in a year-end chart. The song beautifully talks about loneliness and alcohol consumption. She was also brought to levels of singers like Adele due to this song, many critics said that she is back to where she started, like Video Games and Blue Jeans.
Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" is at #8. It's the pop anthem of the year. It used to be a guilty pleasure to me, but I gave up, it deserved to be a successfully single. Everybody knows the chorus and sing "Hey, I just met you, and this is crazy, but here's my number, so call me, maybe?". Who doesn't? The song has everything that a pop song represent nowadays.
"Little Talks", by Of Monsters And Men is at #7. The Icelandic group is one of the nominees for best new artist this year. This song is so different, because it has a little of folk in a alternative song, what became a beautiful combination. At #6 is "Lonely Boy", by The Black Keys. It's a different song from the duo (the "new" is coming hard this year), which features an Elvis Presley/The Beatles feelings, making a combination of Garage Rock/Alternative and "Old" Rock/Classic Rock. I mean, it's like listening to Beatles and Arctic Monkeys... at the same time!
Carrie Underwood's "Good Girl" is at #5. It's her first appearance here and first single from her fourth studio album "Blown Away". I'm not trusty enough to talk about the song or about her cause I'm a big fan of Carrie, but the song is awesome because it has the lyrics and the beats from Cowboy Casanova, and even having these aspects, it's new, different.
Madonna's "Girl Gone Wild" is at #4. The dance anthem of the year! The song is so underrated, and it's better than any other song of MDNA. There's nothing left to say, it's Madonna. Hope your fave have great success during all the 30 years of career like her!
