Personally, I've seen how pop albums like Loud & Teenage Dream have opened & know pop albums sometimes do not pull numbers that would be expected. I think 500K+ is reasonable for her in the US & million worldwide.
The last albums to open with a million exlusively in the US were not pop albums. Tha Carter III was a hip-hop album, & hip-hop albums typically have frontloaded sales. That was the case with Tha Carter III, because Wayne has a devoted fanbases that bought it the first week. Everyone already nows country albums sell better than pop albums & that was an advantage for Taylor Swift, since she switches between the genre. At the moment, her sales are a bit frontloaded too, & I hope, more than anything, Born This Way has a lot of longetivity. Interscope thankfully has ginormous faith in the project & they're promoting the album like they should be.

I'm giving Gaga the benefit of the doubt. Taylor is a country artist who had just come off a 6x Platinum album. Plus she released in the 4th quarter when sales are generally higher. GaGa, while the biggest pop star in the world, is still a pop artist (just look at Rihanna's, Ke$ha's, Katy's and even Britney's sales with a bunch of digital smashes and radio hits.). Plus, she has gone through controversy and her music may not appeal to the average Joe like Taylor's, whose music is inoffensive. Plus, GaGa is releasing right when sales are terrible. So, based on that, I won't go that high and predict 1 million first week, even though I should given this type of promo and hype.

Allot of people don't take most of what you said into account when predicting.

Isn't that embarrassing? I mean, Beyoncé could come out with just two lead singles in 2008 and almost hit 500k in the US without all this shameless promo...and you're saying Gaga with 4 singles, shameless promo AND national notoriety will just outsell IA...SF by 18,000+ copies?!?

Hypocritical.
Most of the Gaga stans attacked britney for doing charitable works or questioning her being a gay icon while Bey stans are pretty okay with it. Let's not act like the Gaga stans are the victims here. And let's not even go as far as that when the OPs of the Femme Fatale song leaks were mostly Gaga stans...
