Great noms this year! Super happy for Alicia, JLaw, and Rachel McAdams. I haven't seen Spotlight yet but Rachel was the only good part of the DISMAL second season of True Detective so that definitely says something about her acting ability.
The category fraud is annoying, but I'm kind of glad. Alicia stood no chance against Brie/Cate in Best Actress. This way, she has a 50/50 shot against Rooney. And the fact that Ex Machina got a bunch of other noms which I wasn't expecting, while Carol got a few snubs, also helps her chances. Plus these two being bumped down to Best Supporting let JLaw snag another Best Actress nom. True legend.
ALL OF THIS.
I saw Ex-Machina and it wasn't all of that..I think she was better in The Danish Girl in my opinion..so yeah, Mara will win in the supporting..although she should have been lead with Cate.
Mara has more screen time and is the main character of Carol, she actually has the most screen time in the entire history of the Supporting Actress category. But good for her, she'll probably win at least.
Tatum O'Neal for Paper Moon or Hailee Steinfeld for True Grit?
Tatum O'Neal for Paper Moon or Hailee Steinfeld for True Grit?
#TeamKateWinslet.
Nope. She has seventy one minutes of screen time. Tatum O'Neal, the runner up, has sixty six minutes. So yas, let's have Legend Kate win since she is actually supporting.
%-wise, if your number is accurate, Tatum was in a higher % of her film.
Anyway, hooray Ronan, just the 2nd under-17-nominee to get a 2nd Oscar nom.
And she's the 3rd actress in the Sag Awards era (1994+) with multiple noms for Highly Acclaimed (B+ or higher Metascore) BP nominees. But unlike JLaw and Bening, Saoirse also appeared in a 3rd Highly Acclaimed BP nominee, Grand Budapest Hotel.

Saoirse is just so talented. She handles every role so perfectly.
Gaga will win. Diane is long overdue for Oscar *Locked* unless Manta Ray song makes a surprise or Simple Song
Rooney will win *Locked*
Leo will win *locked*
Brie will win *Locked*
BP will go to Spotlight or Mad Max. Either one now
Star Wars will get at least 2-3 awards
What the hell The Martian for BP? The abomination of all. Carol deserves it more
