The gorilla's species is endangered and was better served in a protective environment to help repopulate the species. I'm pretty sure they would have been extinct without any intervention.

There a big difference between a nature reserve/sanctuaries and Zoos.

There is. And until recently, zoos didn't really give a **** about conservation. But a lot of that has changed. A lot of them work with conservations all over the world and have developed breeding program to help with re-population, as well as the implementation of educational programs for the public.

But still, the fact that we HAVE to do these things to save species who are declining because of issues WE initially created is still damning.

omg barely anyone cares when its an ACTUAL HUMAN that gets shot dead, but when an animal unintentionally puts a child is in danger of getting its limbs torn out of its sockets, the whole world stops! And most of the people causing the uproar are probably about to tuck into their steak!!! Its ridiculous!

I can't believe people here are saying that the gorilla's life is more important.

Would the damn gorilla save you if you fell? Maybe. Maybe not. But one thing for sure is that it's a wild animal, and all species look out for their kind. That little boy didn't deserve to die because of a horrible incident. They did what they had to do.
