I desperately hope they've gotten help with the ballad(s) on the album. I haven't really liked any of their ballads, and it's their weakest point in their discography.

It's only an issue for me because their vocals are so good that if you could get them a Beautiful or Someone Like You it would absolutely destroy careers.

The album is #20 on UK iTunes & #30 on US iTunes.

From the looks of it, it seems like there will be 3 sides to this album: the 80s inspired songs (Black Magic, Weird People), 60s, Motown inspired songs (The End, Love Me Like You) and urbanish songs (Hair, Grown).

Also, I'm not as worried about the next single being on-air/on-sale after seeing how effortlessly Hair vaulted into the top 10 on iTunes without a big radio premiere, music video or single hype.

I'm loving everything about this era. My only concern is the UK and US promo when the album comes out. Like how are they going to do it? I want them to get a number 1 album in the UK but I also want them to break their own record in the US.

Re: Ballads - um excuse me? Turn Your Face and Towers are legit some of the best songs in their discography... the other Salute ballads though were lackluster. DNA was better for ballads.

I agree. I think they've REALLY gained a large UK fanbase now. I'm SO here for it being Hairspray-esque. Come through with their Good Morning Baltimore

I think US will be #2 - #4. UK will probably be #1 unless someone big announces release on the same week. Charlie won't be enough to stop em.

The filmed for 'Celebrity Juice' yesterday. It was for their Halloween special so it'll air right around the time of the album's release.

Jade spoke about the album in a recent interview.

I want to talk about this record – the first two singles have been incredible – I know you didn’t write the first one [Camille Purcell & Ed Drewett did] but I’m hoping it’s an indication of the writing level on the record. Are there more songs like Hair and Black Magic? Are there different sounds as well as the banging beats?
It’s a great pop album generally. Those two are a good indication. The songs will be fun and you can definitely tell we’ve been heavily involved in it, it’s really cheeky and there’s a lot of banter. You can see it’s what four girls would talk about. We’ve worked really hard – there’s literally been hundreds of songs that we’ve worked through to the end that didn’t make it in the end – but we’re really proud of this one.


Let’s talk about words actually – I feel like now we’re at this record you can dig a bit deeper.
I think so, there’s a few ballads on there that really speak for themselves and explain things we’ve been through whether it’s breakups or… there’s a song on the album which is probably one of my favourites and basically we were a year into writing the album and we were in a phase of writing songs that just weren’t good enough. I remember us sitting with Jess Glynne just breaking down thinking “we can’t find the single! There’s nothing there!” and that was at the same time as everyone was speculating that we were splitting up. So, we wrote a song about just, not giving up really. As long as we have each other it doesn’t really matter what’s going on in the outside world. It’s a really lovely song about believing in yourself and that as long as you’ve got each other, everything’s okay.

I want to chat collaborators – obviously you mentioned Jess Glynne but with over a hundred songs done for the album – who else did you jump in a studio with?
Oh my god. So many. We did a really cool session with Marina & The Diamonds but it didn’t actually make the album. She is incredible. It was a REALLY good session and a great song, but it didn’t match the body of work. We wrote with Becky Hill as well, she is just incredible, MNEK, so many amazing sessions and literally hundreds of songs came out of them. Some we’re going to keep for maybe the next album – but I think once Black Magic happened, everything slotted around that and songs that were great didn’t make it for that reason.

All this teasing the girls are making about how many exciting things are coming this year is making me think they got an Adidas deal. I don't know if I picture a song called 'Adidas' on the album, but who knows.
