The world of music will never be the same again. As the TC 10 reported in January, independent radio station 97X (WOXY.com) was scheduled to go off the air last night and it did, right on schedule. The dead air that followed the goodbye from 97X represents the state of all radio without 97X: dead. What made 97X so great is that it was truly the last of the totally live, local, independent radio stations, with real music, real people, and a real passion for the music they played. Something as special as the radio station 97X, and the community of all the wonderful people who worked there and the extremely loyal listeners who tuned in every day, realizing that 97X was indeed much more than just a radio station, will probably never be seen (or heard) again. Goodbye, 97X, the future of rock and roll.
The TC 10 will attempt to take some cues from the unmatched 97X, following less trends, patterns, and charts, starting in the next few weeks. Here is this week's TC 10.

This week's vintage clip:
U2 - Sunday Bloody Sunday
When 97X started in 1983, the first song played on the station was a live version of "Sunday Bloody Sunday" by U2. The station came full circle last night when "Sunday Bloody Sunday" was also the last song to be played before signing off. This week, the TC 10's vintage clip is dedicated to 97X, representing the station's first song, last song, and all 21 years in between. As for the top 10, Beastie Boys remain at #1 this week and Samantha Ronson is outta here after 10 weeks. Next week, Big Brat is retired! See you then.
