Whoever made the decision to add a remix just so it wouldn't be 8 was rather crude. At least do a full-on new song, or say **** it and stick with 8.

It's not that, most people are aware who has released EPs. To my knowledge, no one else has re-released their album with the addition of an EP that buyers have the option of getting separately. It's different from previous re-releases because it's essentially a whole new album.

Lady GaGa has revolutionised pop music, and her rivals are taking advantage of that. GaGa came out in 2008 when the pop scene was rather dull, and the radio format was far weaker than it currently is. With her success, more stations switched to the pop format and other artists have reaped the rewards, most notably Ke$ha, but also Katy Perry. She recently had two Hot 100 airplay #1s, they used to be elusive for a white girl. GaGa's success didn't come overnight and she had to work hard for it, but she ultimately opened the door for her rivals in the process.
It's not surprising that Ke$ha is copying GaGa by releasing an 8-track EP, TFM was incredibly successful and it's far more cost effective to release an EP than an album. It also allows artists to release at more regular intervals, thus pleasing their fans.

Always so right on the money.

Love how hard people push to get Gaga that credit. Of course, she rightly deserves it in this situation. She's popularized the EP format, and that's great. It's a sensible way to release music and many artists are likely to do as she did with TFM, but God forbid that news should leak regarding the decision to release with an EP and Gaga not be given a plug directly in the next sentence for her truly pioneering decision to do the same thing a year earlier. For the simple fact that this wasn't acknowledged in the first post where it was reported that this re-release would in fact be an EP, we have spawned 10 pages of discussion with everyone and their 5th cousin butting in to say Gaga did it first and laud her for revolutionizing the music industry.
And of course we can only assume that this will trickle down into future Ke$ha is just a Gaga wannabe arguments where all the vague similarities between their respective styles, the fact that they both are dance/pop artists, the way in which their management teams and labels handle them (including this decision to release an EP) will be hashed, and re-hashed, and re-re-hashed, and re-re-re-hashed. As if any capable label wouldn't look at the massive success of TFM and say "What the hell, let's give it a go," and make arrangements for all future re-releases to be done in a similar manner. It's not so much copying Gaga as it is an attempt to cash in on a economical and successful way of releasing music.

Did she include it in a deluxe version of her previous album?

I don't think you did, sometimes it's necessary to be bitchy to get your point across. TFM certainly began a new trend but I don't think people should blow it out of proportion and give her too much credit, if GaGa didn't do it then someone else would have.

My two cents: EP's and Deluxe Edition's have been around for a long time so neither Gaga, Ke$ha, or, I'm hearing her name being thrown into the discussion, Miley have started the EP or Deluxe Edition format
