Mostly this. Marina is embodying what she's criticized rather than just writing about them as she did in TFJ. That's why it's a concept album. EH gets inside the head of this kind of Marilyn/Madonna woman rather than make observations about her. Inherently, that makes it a much more personal exercise than TFJ was in regard to this sort of thing. It's examination by way of embodiment, which focuses it more on personal relationships and love in general.

Solid track. I didn't think it would make it this far. I had no idea this was about her Dad.
She needs more descriptive lyrics.
This haunting, piano-led number about obsessive compulsive disorder is one of the few songs that touch on matters of the heart on the album. Marina commented to The Sun February 5, 2010: "Because I am not over-sensitive I don't write and gush about love, as a lot of songwriters do, but this one does touch on it, about seeing someone for what they are."

Numb being out is alright even though I love it, but I think Obsessions being out this early is kind of a tragedy... I guess in retrospect to the rest of the sons it's okay, but THAT ONE SONG THAT LA ROUX STILL HAS BETTER NOT GET FAR.

Looks like some Marina material finally got slashed, a mini massacre for her. Thankfully it was her more middle of the road tracks. I am disappointed that Obsessions left though.
