SoundScan and Billboard will count 1,500 song streams from services like Spotify, Beats Music, Rdio, Rhapsody and Google Play as equivalent to an album sale.

How many pop girls or any musicians have had close to those number of streams in one week from Spotify, Beats Music, Rdio, Rhapsody and Google Play In one month?
What about in one year?
How many have done that in their entire streaming history?
Since most of the steaming numbers in this formula will come from Spotify, it should be pretty easy to check how many streams your fave has had on Spotify or weekly streams from the Spotify charts or Spotify artists site.

Right now, 2 million streams a week gets you in the top 10 for the US. Perhaps someone comes up with an amazing album with 15 tracks all streaming 2 million a week, equivalent to 20k sales.
It isn't going to make much difference to your fave with their 1 million opening week.
