I should know, I signed up this year (New Years to be exact) and had been lurking for a couple of months as well but I was never this elaborate on my first day on this site. I wasn't even sure where the you put avis, sigs, gifs, etc went that first day. I didn't even know how to quote people (I missed that "reply w/ quote" button )..... and I'm still learning a lot about this site.
It's all a little fishy to me
Lurked for 1 year before I joined ATRL. The first forum I joined actually and got all the basic functions due to familiarity in less than 30 minutes. Actually I am a duplicate, my other account was permabanned because of trolling/flamebait but no one needs to know that especially the Moderators.
