Adjustment for inflation is used everywhere. From tours, to album sales to videogame sales. It's not something stans came up with, it's taking in mind the state of the market when comparing things that are over a decade apart.

I agree that she has changed the female rap scene and she doesn't get as much credit as she deserves but I don't really think she changed things so that female rappers have to do pop to be successful considering only Iggy is the only other person that has done this too? And as to pop songs, female rappers had features with pop stars, Lil Kim and Eve for example with those songs being very successful too.
