I understand your concern but if the soundtrack single ends up being MASSIVE, I can see it being the first single for the album. It would help push the album for success. If it isn't massive, then they will probably release something else before the album drops.
I just hope the single is not an uptempo. I hope it's a BIG, soaring ballad.
If homegirl is smart, she will include the Lead Single from the Soundtrack on her Album if it smashes, to promote it and boost sales - and then release a Lead Single from that album off of good hype from the last one and hopefully be able to make 2 Lead Hits, before she even does singles.
Mariah's Letterman Appearance Postponed

Mariah has been removed from the guest list for the Late Show With David Letterman, where she was scheduled to appear on Friday, February 8. No further information is available at this time.
Mariah Carey is the reigning queen of all things colourful and dripping with high calorie sweetness so it was only a matter of time before she transcended from this world of mortals to the land fairytales. Preparing to soar like a true butterfly princess, the diva has readied a new single that will appear in the upcoming film Oz the Great & Powerful.
“Almost Home” will be released via Carey’s label, Island Def Jam, as the lead offering from the Oz the Great & Powerful soundtrack on February 19th. The movie, which stars Michelle Williams – the actress, not the singer – Mila Kunis and James Franco, will premiere in the US on March 8th.
Yet, what about Carey’s own album? Is it still on track to hit stores in March? Well, that is unlikely but Jermaine Dupri shared exclusive details about the highly anticipated disc during a recent interview with YouKnowIGotSoul. Read what Carey’s longtime collaborator had to say about their recording process below:
“We have a crazy relationship. We have a very interesting working relationship. As Hip Hop as I am, she wants to be double Hip Hop. When we go in the studio, it’s like I turn into the R&B person and she turns into the rapper. It’s a real weird situation.
She wants to do everything that all the rappers are doing like everything that’s happening in the club. I’m more like “Yo, can we make this singing song like a beautiful ballad please?” I’m tuned into what I believe the fans want when I work with Mariah.
I believe Mariah has been making music for so long that, like I said, as an artist she wants to change her sound and do this and do things differently than what she’s done. As an artist that’s had a long career like hers, you have to respect that. At the same time though, I’m the person that is always there to be like “Listen, the fans want this.” We go round and round, but it’s a really creative process because we find a happy medium.
I don’t know what is coming and what ain’t from what we’ve done, but I do know I did do a song with Mariah almost a year ago that y’all haven’t heard yet. I know if it gets on the radio, it’s going to blow up and go crazy. I can tell you that. I don’t know what she’s going to do with the song, but I tell her every day that the song is crazy.”
With her writing skills and vocal ability, Carey could easily follow in Adele’s footsteps with a win for Best Original Song at the 2014 Golden Globe Awards as well as the Academy Awards. That’s because she’s a real songwriter who doesn’t tack her name onto the end of the credits just because she changed a comma or paid for a slot on the bill.
The only albums I haven't listened to entirely are Glitter & Charmbracelet... How are they?
Glitter is great. It's got some great bops like Loverboy, Don't Stop (Funkin' 4 Jamaica), and All My LIfe. The vocal performances on the ballads (Lead the Way, Never Too Far) are AMAZING!!!
Charmbracelet aka Wristband is very hit and miss. You have to be in the right mood to listen to it.
I'ma keep it w/ my Mariah collection to look back at years from now. 
I'm really excited!! I cannot wait for the new album. It might be smart timing and thinking from their part......
