I like how she look so slim pretty and effortless in the video. It's the simplicity of the video that I like. And you can actually see she's struggling to catch her breath in the video. So yeah, less hope less disappointment.

There are symbolism in CMB though. The orange smoke is symbolic of breathing like blowing the smoke out and you see at the end when it's sucked in. It's like breathing in, as in Catching her breath. Also the bubble symbolize breathing and catching her breath.

To me, this whole video is simple, bright, and light... which fits the song really well cause it is fresh, happy, and airy. Nothing complicated because it's all about being happy and starting new. You can really see it in her attitude. She's happy and enjoying her life and dancing to the beats.

I also see the smoke as the negativity of the industry, and her standing in the water, a Reflective surface, alone, as a symbol of defiance and Independence. Am I reading too much into it?
I guess symbolism can be more subtle and not have to shove illuminatii signs in peoples throats

The elements were used in the video as symbolism like KeepingtheFlowers said. It was supposed to be one of those videos with tons of abstract symbols that relate to the song's concept but I don't think the symbols were used enough or in the proper way to get the point across better and make the video more amazing looking.

Yes!! I was thinking something similar to that! I loved the beginning and the ending of her posing in the reflective water showing two Kelly. Like the image is inversed... like it's her past life... "shadowboxing the other half" maybe?

As you said about the negativity of the industry, throughout the video, the smoke were strong and lurking around her like it's her dark past and the negativity of her life.... then at the end you can see the smoke being sucked in and fade away like she finally moved on.

Also, maybe the reason why she stood there after she took few steps is because she needs to pause and catch her breath and enjoy the beauty of life.

I just feel like the lyrics and the fact that Kelly wrote it should have lent itself to serving more of a plot rather than symbolic references

I was shot down the last time I suggested having her old videos incorporated into it, but since the song is so relfective on her career and her past, I think having glimpses of her videos in the water/smoke would have been fitting and would have actually fit the song and the theme.

I actually thought the smoke becomes apparent as the flame in the music video based on the colour of the smoke. It sort of showed as she struggled to catch her breath throughout the past ten years in the industry as she sing turning my cheek for the sake of the show!
