Since we always talk about promotion, I love what Billboard said about Justin's promo for '20/20:'

Justin Timberlake has a rare ability to seem to be everywhere without actually being in that many places. In a way, the marketing around his new album, The 20/20 Experience, has taken a note from the way he managed to keep his solo musical career in the spotlight by not releasing any music of his own for six years: It might seem like he’s ubiquitous, but he’s not. He’s just chosen what he’s doing to promote the album very strategically for maximum impact: Some strategic online marketing; a couple of high-profile branding and radio campaigns; appearances on the Grammy and Brit Awards, “Saturday Night Live” and a week on “Jimmy Fallon” -- sure, it’s all big, and it all came within two months. But compared with a lot of other album-release campaigns, he's not doing half the stuff that we've seen other artists doing -- it’s much more quality over quantity -- and very, very few artists could be so selective and still go so big.

As RCA Records president/COO Tom Corson told Billboard.biz, "While it feels like he is everywhere, he has been going with less-is-more. The looks he has been getting have either been large events or strategic. He hasn't been doing every TV or print opportunity."

Exactly what Britney needs. Making the album available for streaming on iTunes a week before it is released is a genius idea (helps avoiding any leaks,) as it allows people to hear the full album and decide if they want to buy it in case they don’t like the singles. His manager also talked about how a lot of the physical record sellers are now gone and finding different ways to deliver as well as promote new material (both Adam and Larry could never.)

I think that is what we all have been saying she has needed to do for for months, well no years.

Rihanna does the same thing, she is not "everywhere" as Katy and GaGa but it feels see is around just as much (well that and the fact she hasn't taken a break).

But Britney won't do that either, we have to deal with Ellen (which is useless for promo) and GMA.

She needs big primetime stuff, daytime isn't as big as it used to be to be that effective

It's not even about daytime not being as big as in the past, but daytime is NOT her audience.

The initial 2 months success 'Circus' had made Britney's team think that was enough, but they probably forgot the album was backed by the whole world surprised and somewhat happy to see she had survived the year before and was again looking beautiful - yes, like it's been said here before, that is crucial for a Pop singer, especially one like Britney who has ALWAYS had the "sexy" factor attached to her career - and releasing good music.

How long is it gonna take for the Stan's to realize that Britney is THE problem, the one and only, and only when she decided to get her **** together is when everything else will piece together. But that isn't ever happening.

Nobody's saying Britney is the perfect celebrity to handle. But I think we've established that it is possible to promote albums and singles without Britney needing to be in every TV or radio show, so her team is also to blame.

I do agree with the second part -- to an extent.

But Daytime was a big audience for her, it was known to have the biggest concentration of the coveted 18-24 Women demo, and women in that age is her biggest base. She shouldn't neglect it, it helps her.

But she also needs primetime, to have a more rounded universal appeal than just women.

Really? I always thought 90% of daytime audience in the US consisted of women between 35 and 60 years old.

The older people make up a big portion as well. It is just you find a bigger concentration of women in daytime than men, and 18-24 (or whatever that demo is called) is the coveted one in Daytime as well and it used to be a whole lot bigger than it is now.
