I like This Moment more than CYB overall (for some reason) but I understand your logic. I can understand why This Moment was written in a day and the other much longer.
I'd prefer she took her time... however, there's a fine line. I don't want her overthinking and overworking everything either.

i dont want katy overworking/overthinking either but she's taking 3 year breaks between albums like a one-liner lyric a day wouldn't hurt instead of waiting for a specific period when she's not doing anything else to write . doesn't another specific pop girl jot ideas all the time wherever she goes

This still bewilders me. Like, I know Lips is a pretty simple song and uses AATB as a blueprint for the most part, but as an amateur songwriter I just could never imagine writing a song in 8 minutes. I'm way too overcritical and analytical when it comes to lyric writing.

I think it's more about having fun rather than overthinking it. Lips is a fun song meant to be a bop without really any deep meaning so I'm guessing she just rolled with whatever came off her tongue within those few minutes

Yeah, that's very true. It's about being in the right mindset. Plus she had Kevin to bounce ideas off.
This Moment is so positive and uplifting. It really embodies the "let the light in" message the album has. It's the closest thing to a "title track" on the album imo.
