The only thing that's annoying me a lil bit is that everyone's so fixated upon the US debut and numbers, that the rest of the world is being a little bit ignored (both by ATRL stans and her team, it seems). It's missed a #1 debut in a lot of countries where with barely lifting a finger, she could have snatched it. I'm not expecting week-long promo visits and performances, but commercials and smaller things like that could have helped. It managed #2 in AU, #3 in UK, #6 in DE, #9 in FR, #10 in JP, and so on. Still, it's a very strong digital seller (in most of these countries, it was #1 on the digital sales chart I believe).
Regardless, I think charts are something to be celebrated when they indicate success, and all but ignored when they come up a little poorer - because at the end of the day it really doesn't matter. It's just a little frustrating to see it do so well in the biggest music market, because that really does mean that the same could have occurred with a more global focus.
At the end of the day, she might not peak #1 in several markets, but I have a good feeling that if she continues playing her cards right, her overall sales in a lot of markets sans Japan and maybe UK will be much higher than with ARTPOP.
I am realizing Perfect Illusion kind of slays I think I couldn't see it before because it was an odd pick for lead single, besides the whole theme of the video was just alright. Any artist could've come up with those visuals, and that's such a unusual thing to say about Gaga.
If the visuals for the PI video had been like this ^ it might have been a different story.
I mean the 80s look, like "Papa Don't Preach". It's strange that Perfect Illusion sounds so much like an 80s pop song and the video doesn't reflect that, except for maybe Gaga's outfit a little bit.
Joanne the title track got me feeling some kind of way tonight
It might sound crazy but earlier today I was in bed and I kind of felt the need to listen to the album, it was so weird, I started thinking of the songs and I got emotional. I dont know why
The first half of the album is much better than the second. Diamond Heart, Joanne, Dancin' In Circles, Million Reasons, Perfect Illusion, A-YO, Just Another Day are my most listened songs.
