Hi, so I'm obviously the most important person in this thread, and I decided I'm gonna just post something I wrote!
I had this concept in my head ever since I saw someone say "Whatta day" yesterday, but I only now decided to put it into text. I *was* going to make this a full song, but after looking at the topic, I decided it's be better off as an outro type of deal. It could be the outro to "Welcome to the World"'s intro
What a Day
[Verse]
What a day it’s been
We saw the world, it’s highs and lows
We made our mark, I know it shows
I couldn’t have gone on alone
What a day it’s been
We saw the sun, from rise to set
The moon is out, don’t you forget
It’s nothing without you friend
[Chorus]
What a day it’s been
But it’s time we head on in
Thank you for the laughs, my friend
Without you it won’t be the same
What a day it’s been
I hope to see you again
[Bridge]
We played the world like it’s our stage
We bowing out with poise and grace
Now the spotlight’s on our face
Just look to the crowd and wave...
Also, welcome to the thread, Janey! Maybe you'll be around when PH10, Also known as Diamond Hit, comes around.

A lion
A martyr
Lurking
Thirsting
For his feast
Hear me yodel
For this treat

It's a name given to the 10th season of Platinum Hit, which is a songwriting game that has been a part of ATRL's Games section for a few years now. Each week, contestants are given a challenge that they have to write lyrics to. Judges will read the lyrics over and rank them based on technicality, creativity, etc. and eventually, a winner gets chosen! (Your lyrics don't get revealed to anyone except the judges unless you choose to share them, by the way.)
It's important to note that it's just lyrics, which makes some people call it Poetry Hit, but we think that makes it more fair to people who aren't singers/can't play an instrument or produce.
By the way, I listened to some of your songs. You have such a lovely voice. And you wrote those songs yourself, yeah? If you happened to join, I think you'd do really well.

I wish I could start writing. "No Sun on the Horizon", " Snake in the Garden" and "Hell or High Water" are coming.
I guess I could just write something else. Hmm let me go to me other tracklist

I'm hosting it and it's starting toward the end of November! You can join it then. I'll make sure you get a message so you know when it's starting

I have finally returned to the lost art of full songwriting. I haven't stopped, but I have been writing less full songs and doing more bits and pieces songwriting, where I'll write a chorus and then stop, then return later on if I have an idea for a verse that seems to go with that chorus. It's a very different approach for me because I usually hammer out a full song in one go (and I've recently been finishing a lot of those fragmented songs too, which I'll probably post here).
But I've been inspired recently by another bout of unrequited love, and I had this little 80s inspired ditty about the crush I have and I thought I'd post it here since I really love it.
LIKE
I can’t afford to give myself up
If you figure me out, I’ll lose way too much
Sometimes I think you’re starting to see
So I try to reign it and bury it deep
It doesn’t work
You’re under my skin
Invading these thoughts of mine
There’s nowhere I can run
Because you won’t let me hide
CHORUS:
But I like the way you smile
The way you look at me
And I like the way you talk
You speak so eloquently
And I like when you say my name
It feels like I can’t breathe
And I think I like all of you
Do you like any of me?
I don’t want you to notice my eyes
How they gravitate to you and become hypnotized
Gotta go because I’m starting to blush
And if you see then you will know that I want you too much
But does it work?
I can see in your smirk
You know something’s up with me
But things are good
So we don’t have to talk
Better you leave me be
REPEAT CHORUS
Don’t answer
I don’t need to know
I know what you like
Don’t speak it
You don’t need to talk
I can’t be your type
REPEAT CHORUS TWICE
When you talk, I can’t speak
Your eyes get the best of me
And your smile makes me weak
Do you like any of me?

Woo so for those that don't know I've had mad writer's block for over a year now (I think?) It's been a while anyway. I call it writer's block but it's really just 'I'm too lazy to try and write anything and I get distracted easily'. blah blah blah
But today I wrote something, just to get **** off my chest really. It's not Platinum Hit'd in its wording at all and it's all pretty ~basique~ but it's real and just the kind of stuff I want to write. Like it's pop. Lyrics have kind of taken a backseat for me as I care so much more about melody and accessibility and production in songs tbh. Anyway here's my song "I Know".
The subject matter is kinda obvious but some of you might have a better idea of what it's about if you know the **** I've been going through during the past 4-5 months.
I Know
VERSE I
I know, you know, you know, I know
That I’m onto you, boy
And you know, I know, I know, you know
It’s just a matter of time
‘Cause I’m hearing all the lies you’re selling
But I’m not buying ‘em, boy
So just tell me with your eyes whenever
You’re up to cross the line
PRECHORUS I
Yeah it’s a dangerous game that we’re playin’
But I think I can see the ending
Just forget about the **** you’ve been saying’
Are you really gonna keep pretending
CHORUS I
Like you don’t talk, you don’t talk about me
You don’t think, you don’t think about me
You don’t dream, you don’t dream about me
Like I used to dream about ya
And you don’t speak, you don’t speak about me
That you could even go a week without me
You don’t dream, you don’t dream about we
Like I still dream about us
VERSE II
I know, I know, I know, I know
That I’m talking crazy
‘Cause I know, I know, I know deep down
I’m not the one for you
And there’s something so insanely selfish
About this situation
When I know I only wanna know
Just to say that I knew
PRECHORUS II
Yeah it’s a dangerous game that I’m playin’
Now I’ve lost sight of the ending
I’ll just ignore all the **** you’ve been saying’
Guess I’m gonna keep pretending
CHORUS II
Like you be talkin’, you be talkin’ ‘bout me
You be thinkin’, you be thinkin’ ‘bout me
You be dreamin’, you be dreamin’ ‘bout me
Like I used to dream about ya
And you be speakin’, you be speakin’ ‘bout me
You’re so gone after week without me
You be dreamin’, you be dreamin’ about we
Like I still dream about us
POSTCHORUS (HOOK)
I know, I know, I know, I know
(So gone, so gone)
I know, I know, I know, I know
(I’m not the one for you)
BRIDGE
If I’m honest, I’ll admit it, know it’s none of my business
Where you’re going, when you’re leaving, the address where you’re living
But there’s something ‘bout ya that’s just keepin’ me second guessin’
All the little things I’m picking up on seem never ending
Every policy you’re preaching, every text you be sending
So then tell me what I’m ‘sposed to do with all these mixed messages?
Back and forth for four whole hours like you’re into me
Not a word for four whole weeks like you’re ashamed of me
Yeah you told me how it is, I don’t mind being wrong
But why’d the hell you have to do so well at leading me on?
Even still I find I struggle with accepting the truth
Still I feel the one that struggles with acceptance is you
Guess it doesn’t really matter if I’m right or I’m wrong
Either way you’re never gonna hear the words to this song
‘Cause this is my form of therapy, of letting you go
So thanks for the intermission, now it’s on with the show
CHORUS III
‘Cause you don’t talk, you don’t talk about me
You don’t think, you don’t think about me
You don’t dream, you don’t dream about me
Like I used to dream about ya
And you don’t speak, you don’t speak about me
As if you couldn’t go a week without me
You don’t dream, you don’t dream about we
Like I used to dream about us
POSTCHORUS (HOOK)
I know, I know, I know, I know
(So gone, so gone)
I know, I know, I know, I know
(I’m not the one for you)

Hi, here's the application to judge for Diamond Hit! It's pretty short and simple, so feel free to fill one in and send it to me if you're interested in judging the season. If you're a past judge, you can just pm me saying you're interested instead
If you're not interested in judging but would want to mentor contestants, you can pm me about that also.
1. Have you judged any other ATRL games before? What is your history with Platinum Hit?
2. Judging can generally be quite time consuming of an activity and demanding as a role, do you have certain commitments that would interfere with your availability to judge in a timely manner between the end of November to the end of February / beginning of March? (factoring in a break over Christmas and New Year)
3. Tell me about your songwriting history so I can get a feel of you as a writer. (eg. how long have you been writing, who are your inspirations / influences, how would you describe your style, etc.)
4. What main criteria would you look for that makes a song great, and what issues concern you the most in making an entry bad?
5. What are your favourite and least favourite challenges?
6. If you would, please include a song you have written on your own, and critique it.
7. This season, I am introducing a number of mentors to the game as well, as to help the contestants one on one with their songs during the rounds in a way that the judges cannot. As such, I'm also looking for mentors too, and if you were to not make it as a judge, would you be interested in mentoring instead?

hey everyone i haven't posted in here yet but i'm an artist who began with lyrics/melodies. I haven't released anything official yet... i'm still working on my demo and a few other media opportunities before putting my stuff out there. I learned to just let it naturally come to me and take note of ideas in the moment, and i got some pretty amazing stuff over the past few years ... tbh im pretty excited to finish my demo. I am constantly writing and have accumulated at least 500 song concepts with full lyrics over the years (taking some and putting together a poetry book at this point). Besides a demo being put together right now I plan on shooting some professional covers early next year or next summer. I've also been exploring acting and modelling and hope to bring that into my music. Trying to be patient and focus on my product, and productions now instead of just lyrics since I have that beyond mastered
How long have you been writing songs?
since i was 8 so for 16 years
What was the first song you wrote? When did you write it?
a song called escape, i wrote it after buying my first CD which was Christina Aguilera's first CD back in april 2000
What instruments do you play?
I know minimal piano and guitar
What genre of music do you write?
rock, pop, punk, metal, rap, hiphop, rnb, country, jazz, and some classical. I like to look at wholes and can tailor a lot of my ideas to different genres
What’s your favorite song from your discography?
I chose my 7 favourites for my demo, i cant choose between them tbh and 2 are still being written i'm just not gunna force it and take my time
