WFL, did well because there wasn't really that much (strong) competition around late last year except SAIKI and because it was an amazing song and the public obviously loved it (it's on course to be her biggest selling solo single). If anything, it possibly could of performed even better if YDO was not released until a month after the album release.

It's updated since TOTGA is already 2x platinum and POM is on its way if not surpassed already. ET is 5x platinum and FW must be around 5.3 I think.
But anyway, congrats to Katy for getting there without resorting to any desperate tactics from her team.
Her team only used tactics for two of her singles and that's because they wanted #1 on BHot 100, all her singles were #1 on iTunes without tactics (except for TOTGA), and of course, they all had longevity, dominated radio and sold more than 2 million and three of them even sold more than 5 million.

I like Katy too but I wouldn't say it's terrible. They just overrate it here a lot.
