Oops I Did It Again managed more than that and it was released only a year before Self Titled.

She is a global artist. Dont doubt her. She sold more albums and singles in the rest of the world than in the USA.

This. There are places that Britney was even bigger than Oops and BOMT.

Are you really comparing OIDIA to Britney, come on now. I'd expect this from Bie not you.
Anyway, no way in hell Britney has sold 15 million. It's just not possible. We just got the official sales/shipments and they stand at 12 million.
Bie, stop spamming the thread with your BS please.

They release those in press releases

Actually, the Japanese number could be true. Nielsen Soundscan Japan does actually monitor Japanese sales and Billboard does have access to NSSJ. However, we should stick with the Oricon numbers because they're more official.
The Britney number is shipments and would've come from her record label.

40.5M digital tracks U.S.A.
2.9M physical singles U.S.A.
~7M ringtones U.S.A.
3.3M digital tracks Canada
6.9M singles/tracks U.K.
3.5M singles France
Just from four countries (and please remember that physical singles and ringtones are missing from Canada), that's 64.1M. I don't think 110M is out of the picture.
Also, an old side note:

1. Britney Spears
Well, look who it is. Fancy seeing you here, Britney. Yes, it comes as no surprise that taking the biggest crown of all the Disney princesses is none other than Britney Spears, another breakout star of the Mickey Mouse Club. Since her first smash in 1999 with …Baby One More Time, Brit has clocked up 28 Top 40 hits on the Official Singles Chart, with 22 of those going Top 10 and six of them hitting Number 1. And it looks like there are more to come. She’s about to release her eighth studio album and has signed to do a two-year residency in Las Vegas called Britney Spears: Piece of Me. New single Work Bitch is coming soon.
Sales: Britney’s singles sales weigh in at 8.1 million, putting her comfortably on her throne. She’s shifted 4.9 million albums and her new one is on the way.
Biggest hit: Her top seller is still …Baby One More Time, which has sold over 1.5 million copies.
|
This was from the Official Charts Company back before "Work Bitch" came out. Did they just mess up?

ORICON didn't include import numbers in their reports before 2003 which was really beneficial for international artists' sales, so label reports would be more accurate than theirs.

Total singles sold in South Korea from year-end charts: 2,934,361 single sold
It's important to remember that South Korea did not have any charts till 2010 and that their single sales were about 2 cents before this year. "Work Bitch" is smashing, despite selling only 20,000 copies, because single sale prices have gone up 25 fold. Also, I will look through their download charts and try to find numbers for other singles and update these numbers.
EDIT:
"Ooh La La" has sold 72,468 copies so far (taken from the monthly charts)
"Scream & Shout" has sold 42,173 copies in 2013 (taken from the 2013 monthly charts, 2012 monthly/weekly charts aren't available)
"Work Bitch" has sold 24,831 copies so far.
Her available single sales total is: 3,073,833 singles sold
It's a shame we can't pull up pre-2010 numbers because "Circus" and "Womanizer" were HUGE smashes.

We have their numbers for her imports, though, and it places the album around 647k (650k). NSSJ isn't far off from the Oricon number. I wonder if the NSSJ number counts albums sold at concerts since Oricon doesn't count that (and some other stores).

"Till The World Ends" sold more than that. The original & remix versions there charted separately.

The Femme Fatale remix sold 70,470 copies on the midyear foreign chart. There was another version called the Culture Shock remix that sold over 6K while it was charting. Neither version made it to the final foreign year end chart, but I would still estimate "Till The World Ends" near or at 400K there overall.
