This has to be the first time I see a reviewers understand Rihanna performance style..

RISQUÉ, rebellious and riveting – Rihanna is everything you can expect from a modern-day pop star. She may only be the second solo singer to perform at the Stadium of Light in five years, but Rihanna has the stage presence of a whole rock band all rolled into one.
Which is handy as it’s her X Factor charisma which glues you to watching her on stage, rather than any theatrical dancing or effects.
Despite being in the midst of a 92-date whirlwind tour of the globe, Rihanna is a laid-back performer who slinks about the stage and takes the adoration thrown at her from the audience all in her lengthy, thigh high-booted stride.
Maybe it’s a casualness instilled in her thanks to her Bajan roots or maybe it’s because this is a women
who’s confident in her ability to fill a stadium.
Whatever it is - it works. This was the biggest crowd to date at the home of the Black Cats and the 25-year-old owned the 57,500-strong audience for the duration of her two-hour set.
Despite being late on other dates on her UK tour, the chart-topper was bang on time for her Mackem fans. If you love Rihanna, you’ll love this show: the saucy starlet works her way through all her hits with aplomb. But there isn’t the spectacle and theatrics we’ve experienced with the likes of Coldplay and Take That at our home ground. Instead, the spotlight is firmly placed on the vocals, which you couldn’t fault. She began the show with lesser-known tracks from her latest album Unapologetic such as Phresh Out The Runway which she performed resplendent in a gold and black Egyptian-chic inspired outfit.
She peppered her performance with shout outs to “Sunderland” in her distinctive Caribbean twang.
You’d be forgiven for thinking she was oblivious to Sunderland’s existence prior to this performance but she proclaimed that she’d been hearing about this date all week on Facebook and Twitter.
Wearside didn’t disappoint. Thanks to a high-octane warm up from David Guetta, the Sunderland crowd were in the mood to party.
Rihanna’s seventh studio album Unapologetic has spawned one of her best tracks - Diamonds - with its predecessor Talk That Talk producing world-wide hits We Found Love and Where Have You Been and these were definitely highlights of her set.
For finale Diamonds, she shone as bright as the tracks’s name in a dress that sparkled into the night sky. http://www.sunderlandecho.com/what-s...land-1-5787293

“All I've been hearing on the internet, on Twitter, on Facebook, is 'Sunderland, Sunderland, Sunderland'! Are you ready?”
The excitement and anticipation surrounding Rihanna's visit to the Stadium of Light wasn't lost on the woman herself as she stepped on stage in front of the biggest ever concert crowd at the home of the Black Cats.
More than 55,000 concert-goers saw the place packed to the rafters for the second in a series of three summer concerts. The 25-year-old didn't disappoint, showing just why she has eight albums to her name already and has sold more than 100 million records. She will play a total of 94 nights across five continents on her current Diamonds World Tour. it was the Bajan songstress who stole the show with a powerful performance.
From the first note to the last, Rihanna kept the huge crowd were in raptures, with her band taking the limelight on several occasions their part during the necessary costume changes to keep proceedings humming along.
All the hits were there – 'S&M', 'Rude Boy', 'What's My Name' and many more, while 'Umbrella' ironically popped up as the rain began to fall.
A well put together medley ushered in a quieter, more intimate spell before the intensity was cranked up once again.
Perhaps the most memorable moment of the night was the rendition of 'We Found Love' as darkness descended on the Stadium of Light.
It seemed as if the roof was going to lift off as 55,000 people put their hands skywards amidst a sea of camera flashes. The hits kept on rolling in a strong finish as Rihanna showed just why she's considered amongst the world's top female music stars.
“I love your energy, Sunderland,” Rihanna told the crowd as she headed down the runway for the final song, Diamonds, following a soaring performance of hit Stay. The appreciation certainly ran both ways judging by the reaction at the end as the superstar waved goodbye to Wearside. http://www.safc.com/news/club-news/2...es-on-wearside

The venues always make up numbers, just like they said Gaga sold 75k tickets in Paris and Rihanan 78k? In the meantime Gaga sold only 71k and Rihanna... no way she sold more tickets than Gaga because her GA was emptier compares to Gaga. The venues make that up for the publicity. Beyonce slayed, though. With no new album out she managed to sell ~170k tickets in the UK alone and she grossed ~17 MIL$.
I found this on the Mrs Carter thread (because I was checking her grosses to compare it with Rihanna). I irked when I read this. They were in complete denial. I felt so sorry for them.
By the way, I really want Rih to surpass Janet's gross, so that she can have the title of the biggest grossing black female artist, and this tour is very much fitting.
-Grand Stade Lille Métropole 2013-07-20
-FNB Stadium 2013-10-13
-Cape Town Stadium 2013-10-16
FNB can hold up to 90k when it comes to concert, right? I hope we can see a 80k plus people there. And the Cape Town Stadium is smaller than I have ever thought.
I'm pretty sure she's big in South Korea, she can actually add the Olympic Stadium in her Asian leg, but oh well. And may be 1 Tokyo Dome date which can hold 30k people. I hate her for ignoring Japan and South Korea.
Also, she needs to add more dates in the African continent.
Actually, I really don't care if they hate her, but they keep on talking about her in their fave's tour thread. Like WTF. I will never browse that thread again. So much hateful thoughts.

Most artist that perform in FNB do ~65k and Rihanna basically has the same seating chart than Justin Bieber who also did ~65k... Rihanna should be doing 65k-70k.
I don't know if she can perform in a stadium in South Korea...Maybe do Tokyo Dome and something similar to that capacity in SK.
Where else can you perform in Africa really?
We need some South America dates, I'm positive she can add a good 5-10 stadiums.
5 stadiums down, 4 more to go. The Cubic Zirconium World Tour.
Shine bright like a cubic zirconium Rihanna Because of this tour she couldn't promote her singles but these records she broke make me proud of her more than ever
