Hummingbird Heartbeat is such an important song in her discography. It's the perfect transition from OOTB to TD with its pop-rock production and dreamy, metaphorical lyrics. No wonder it was the first song she wrote for the record.
Her vocals are mostly great and the new arrangement on TD is great. I would be down for Katy to start incorperating more classical instruments. Her "Papa Don't Preach" is coming.
I think I prefer the International Smile/Vogue performance mainly because of the stage design, it being actually full length, and the creativity. The costumes don't bring it down enough to be beneath Hummingbird Heartbeat which is simpler but a bit more basic.
Katy's next album is gonna be so, so good. I'm beyond ready for it though. This Xmas jingle can't come. Soon. Enough.
