Thank god something with class and dignity, that shows some talent like Lady Antebellum is #1. Gives me some hope for the industry with trash like Keisha out there. Need You Now is easily the best country song of the new century

Apparently Imma Be, having more appeal to the culturally American western portion of Canada, is a single there while Rock That Body is a single in the more culturally European Ontario and Québec. It's really all quite confusing.

I didn't know Canada was that didvided, could you see the country splitting? I was always under the impression that the division in Canada was caused by the different languages spoken (i.e French and English).

Alberta, Manitoba and BC are certainly more American than Ontario and Québec, I suppose it has to do with geographic location, where ON and QC can hold on to whatever European inclinations they have left whereas the west coast is just too far away to "combat" American cultural influence. This cultural difference hasn't created tension amongst the provinces, however.
I can't vouch for all the provinces, but British spelling is used predominantly in Ontario, with the exception of -ise, that seems to split evenly between -ize and -ise.
I couldn't see the country splitting. Western Canada would be helpless without the East, which is definitely the population centre and backbone of the nation, since Canada was founded in the East and sprawled outwards after the 1880s. There is of course the main contention between Québec and English-speaking Canada, but I would actually say it's more Ontario vs Québec, since that's where the rivalry has always been (Upper Canada [Ontario] and Lower Canada [Québec]), and the west isn't as involved.
It makes sense with Imma Be however, as I've recently noticed that most Albertan, Manitoban and BC radio stations have more American programming than their Ontarian counterparts. E.g. Bulletproof's airplay came mostly from eastern Canada.
I would say Canadian culture is one of the most puzzling cultures in the entire World. Even I don't fully understand it. It'll be interesting to see what happens over the next 25-50 years.
