what about this?
|
Also this:
BEYONCE: 617,000 x 4 = 2,468,000 (actual sales: 2,091,690)
The only examples i can think of where the album total sales is above 4x the first week sales are:
Prism: 286,000 x 4 = 1,144,000 (actual sales: 1,512,687)
Unapologetic: 238,000 x 4 = 952,000 (actual sales: Over 1,100,000)
And those are by no means more successful than RED either
EDIT: And 21, but it doesnt even need to be mentioned, it was a monster!

Stop trying to discredit Taylor

This is what I was referring to

So what exactly are you trying to say? Opening with 200k and maxing out at 1M is better than starting off with 1M and ending with 2M or 4M? The latter seems better to me, no matter how "front-loaded."

This, like most of her albums now, is just relying on initial hype.

Britney starts off at 1.3 million and goes on to sell 10 million.
Taylor can't even crack 5 million and won't crack 5 million this time.

Taylor cracked 5 million with her debut and almost 7,900,000 with her sophomore album. If you wanna do an unfair comparison, Fearless outsol Britney's last four album's total US sales combined. Not to mention it's been a 14 year gap with the music industry quickly dying.
Speaking of not cracking, Taylor's managed to not crack under pressure and ruin her career. She's also managed to snatch more than one Grammy. So yeah, stop embarrassing yourself.

Mess at all this "front loaded" discussion. So you would rather havr an album sell 300k first week then end up at 1.5 million than an album that sold 1.2 million first week and end up at 4 million?

I forgot these:
20/20 Experience: 968,000 x 4 = 3,872,000 (actual sales: Less than 3 Million)
Marshall Matters LP2: 792,000 x 4 = 3,168,000 (actual sales: 2,226,319)
It seems like most of the good sellers rely on "initial hype". The rest have lots of longevity or just mediocre sales altogether

I believe sales are more frontloaded now, yes.
But selling 4M in the long run even with a huge frontloaded debut is amazing, just amazing. You also need to consider since sales are more frontloaded now, sales in the long run will be less than the market we got used to 14 years ago

I don't want to drag Britney, but Britney Jean has barely passed 300K after debuting with 100K in the US..

Fearless debuted with less than ITZ and sold double it in the US, despite being released like 4 years later.
Fearless also debuted with less than Britney and doubled the sales as well.
i'm not trying to drag Britney, cause i like her, but youre down grading Taylor's success for the most stupid reasons
