I agree. There's lots of artists I like who diss other artists I like. I don't see why some people on this forum act like the world has ended when a pop girls disses another pop girl.

I don't think it's as simple as just not liking the song but just how she attached how she's a feminist to the lyrics she doesn't like as if the lyric has any correlation with feminism/being a feminist when in actuality it doesn't (or to me it doesn't at least)
But I DO agree that a lot of these posts are doing too much on a 16 yr old girl. I'm sure a lot of us said far worse things at her age

She's done more than calling out lyrics, and you probably know, and that's why I have no respect for her. I don't think she's ugly, but without extreme make-up i imagine her to look like a childish high schooler, not a hot woman. Still though, she'll hopefully grow with time when it comes to personality, maybe I'll grow some respect for her then.

So superficial. What does that [the highlighted] have to do with her ideas, opinions, music and beliefs?
Women ALWAYS have their appearance thrown in to weigh their worth, their character. This is irrelevant to her right to speak on her musical peers.
It's so cliche and insecure to resort to material things to decide if someones statement or presence is valid, or even if they're talented. There's a divide in the Pop world with this. Artist are criticized and they try and detract the statement with superficial, irrelevant responses like: "I'm #1 on the charts, I'm worth 90 million,"and you have the people that fall for that and accept it and then you have the people that sift through that and see it for what it is.

The song isn't even explicit in any way. Maybe it's because I've never seen the video but there's nothing anti-feminist about the lyrics. Hell, she could be singing about unrequited love and she could be singing it to another woman, that's how vague the lyrics are.

Because in reality what is the difference between a man dictating what women should do and a woman dictating what women should do? Either way it takes away the freedom of women to decide for themselves and that is what feminism is; letting women decide for themselves what they want to do and getting equal treatment in all aspects of their lives regardless of the choice they make.
Furthermore, it is really insulting to assume that all women are so naive and dumb that they can never be in charge of their own sexuality and consciously want to be sexy and talk about sex and talk about pleasing a man.
Selena has said in many articles/interviews that she picked come and get it because it made her feel CONFIDENT so where does that mean she was being submissive. It is meant to make the woman feel confident in her skin and sexy enough to not ask the guy IF he wants her but instead tell him SHE KNOWS HE WANTS HER so SHE is extending an invitation to him that whenever he's ready he can come and get it. Being deeply in love and dependent on a guy doesn't make someone anti feminist it just means that you're flipping emotional and so in love that your happiness in some way depends on being around the person you love. Is it anti-feminist to feel like your family brings you happiness, or anti- feminist to feel like your son/daughter brings you happiness and that you would be depressed without them in your life?
And look at that I made my point without having to diss/shade Lorde or resort to sales/charting which have nothing to do with the point Lorde was making.

This is why feminist get such a bad rep and are seen as men haters. It is COMPLETELY feminist for a woman to express her sexuality in such an open way without being repressed and ashamed.
