Death at Wide Awake being nominated, so painfully obvious that her label is behind these things, The One That Got Away is miles better. Anyways this is the 1st year in ages the nominees are quite fair, I'd love for anyone to win (minus Wide Awake) because they all deserve it altho my fave is We Found Love
Gotye and lana deserved more. They both easily should've been in best male/female video. Also Gotye should've been in Best Pop/Rock video depending on what they count it as. With that said they probably wouldn't win anyway. I wonder why the Best Collaboration category was taken out there were a lot of good collaborations.
Congrats to Rih though she deserves those nominations for WFL especially after being snubbed the past few years. I still can't believe Firework was the VOTY for 2011, what a mess of a video.
For the first time since...um...wow, maybe 2005? I only have slight quibbles with the nominations. I'm absolutely thrilled over the VOTY nominations (outside of "Wide Awake," if it had to be Katy it should have been TOTGA), the M.I.A. love, the random Duck Sauce nod in Direction, "...Paris" scoring nods and really a lot of decent nods.
Yes, I could do without Carly Rae and Bieber being nommed (since CMM is basically Taylor Switfting 101 and Boyfriend is *NSYNC's "Girlfriend" and they already did the nominations on that). And the extremely random "How To Love' nomination for Video With A Message.
Oh **** off, you know damn well Def Jam got tired of Rihanna being ignored for years, so they decided to invest on the VMA's this year. Katy's videos have always been nominated, and Wide Awake is bigger/better then TOTGA.
- at Gaga being paid dust I can imagine them running through clicking desperately the categories and still find nothing. i love when ppl get a taste of their own chocolate. at least we know we have guaranteed we won't get another stupid ass stunt by her this year.
Record labels dont buy VMAs and Rihanna has already won Video of the Year before Katy existed.
