I like the video, but not the song.
Hope he can stay there for more than a week.

I kinda hate the song but it's nice to see him debut with such positive reception. Crazy that he achieved in the US what 1D wasn't able to. I wonder if his album will sell well.

Oh absolutely, in fact that formula would help him to have a more secure #1, with old formula
1. PILLOWTALK 583
2. Love Yourself 489
3. Sorry 468
In comparison with the current "formula" (still testing but it's working pretty good so far)
1. PILLOWTALK 462
2. Love Yourself 383
3. Sorry 351

Actually Hold it against me was the weakest to debut at 1. It sank like a pebble into the abyss...

Belinda Carlisle also went #2 with The Go-Go's "We Got The Beat" in '82 (blocked by "I Love Rock and Roll" by Joan Jett & The Blackhearts). Then she earned a #1 with "Heaven Is A Place On Earth" in '87.

CITW was much bigger in points.
To put into perspective: Candle in the Wind's first week points were enough for it to be #4 on Year-End.
Hello's 3 weeks at #1 included in the 2015 Year-End only put her at #35.
That should give you a perspective of the difference.

i'll be damned.
but ok, i know CITW was absolutely abnormal, and of course due to a tragic death.
so besides CITW then?

Super early predictions for next week.
Still trying with the new formula. Not really convinced with the one I have currently, but Love Yourself will certainly return to #1.
1. Love Yourself 399 (+1)
2. Sorry 366 (+1)
3. Stressed Out 356 (+1)
4. My House 318 (+4)
5. Hello 309 (=)
6. Work 238 (+1)
7. Me, Myself & I 225 (+3)
8. Roses 215 (+1)
9. Adventure Of A Lifetime 199 (+a lot) *who knows how long the Super Bowl boost will last, but top 10 is possible*
10. Pillowtalk 193 (-9)
13. Hands To Myself 174 (=)
20. When We Were Young 147 (+9)
33. Summer Sixteen 111 (-27)

everyone saying it's a "weak" #1 is also saying they don't like the song so its kind of biased. It's way too early in the songs run to determine whether its a weak #1 or not
