I think you have a tendency to exaggerate the raunchy nature of a lot of the recent dance-pop hits because you feel sophisticated when you can act above-it-all or use the I-have-morals card, but I agree with you.

Jennifer played it too safe with this song for it to appeal to our culture of young devil (You maintain the stance that Ke$ha is the anti-Christ, right?) worshipping heathens. It's a song for the clubs sung from the perspective of a woman who, judging by these lyrics, considers the family wedding reception a club experience.

It's different for pop stars releasing "club music" though. There's an expectation that out mainstream artists should be hip, young sounding, and somewhat scandalous. "Stereo Love" is enjoying crossover success between American clubs and American radio simply because the names attached to the song are anonymous to American listeners and dance music is hot enough right now for American audiences to ignore the fact that there's no references to ****ting it up, boozing it up or putting your hands up. If a mainstream American pop artist like Ke$ha, or Usher, or The Black Eyed Peas were to release Stereo Love it wouldn't have gone anywhere cause we have a preconceived notion about what sort of music they should be releasing and what sort of lyrics they should be singing.
