No, that's not whats happening.. As we speak Hurricane Sandy, who is at Cat 1 strength with winds of 75mph is combining with another Low pressure to create a Hybrid Storm which has Tropical and Non-Tropical characteristics mixed together, and Hurricane Sandy will no longer be able to be called a "Hurricane".. It will pick up in size very quickly along with the winds, rain, and now the west side of the storm will have snow.. And to add onto it, it is moving very slowly now too.. Tropical Storms have caused more damage than some Hurricanes due to rain amounts and how slow it was moving.. They are not just hyping a Cat 1 Hurricane, they are warning you ahead of a monster storm that will go down in history..
