| 40. | James Morrison f/ Nelly Furtado, "Broken Strings"
Album: Songs For You, Truth For Me
Release Date: February 26, 2009
Days on Chart: 18 Days
Peak Position: 01[1]
Favorite Line: "Oh the truth hurts and lies worse. How can I give anymore? When I love you a little less than before."
British artist James Morrison teamed up with Nelly Furtado earlier this year for this track. First impression toward the song - a bit boring. I actually believe it was overrated but after a few months, I realized the beauty of the song. James' voice blends greatly with Nelly's. Sadly, James works after this song didn't catch my attention. | | 39. | Lady Gaga, "LoveGame"
Album: The Fame
Release Date: March 24, 2009
Days on Chart: 30 Days
Peak Position: 03
Favorite Line: "Let's have some fun, this beat is sick. I wanna take a ride on your disco stick."
Pop goddess Lady Gaga makes her second appearance on the list with her sexy song, "LoveGame". The song didn't catch my attention unlike her previous singles but nevertheless, you can't say this song is a failure. This song has a lot symbolism including the infamous use of disco stick to represent the male genitalia. At times, the song is overrated. | | 38. | Mariah Carey, "Obsessed"
Album: Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel
Release Date: June 16, 2009
Days on Chart: 47 Days
Peak Position: 01[2]
Favorite Line: "You're delusional, you're delusional. Boy you're losing your mind"
Mariah Carey appears on this set for the final time with "Obsessed". This song is basically for Eminem. Well, I don't care about its theme or whatsoever. All I can say is that the song is great though it didn't reach the epicness of her previous hit, "We Belong Together". Well, I'm hoping for another "Bye Bye"-like single in the future. | | 37. | Keri Hilson f/ Ne-Yo, "Knock You Down"
Album: In A Perfect World...
Release Date: March 24, 2009
Days on Chart: 35 Days
Peak Position: 01[2]
Favorite Line: "You got me thinking 'bout our life, our house and our kids"
If you can notice, I didn't credit Kanye's vocals. Who cares? Anyways, I actually hate this song at first. I wasn't feeling the hype it brings to other listeners. I believe it was a crap and nonsense songs. However, I finally appreciated it three months after its release. Ne-Yo's and Keri's voice blend together greatly. I just find the song too long so better get rid of that very long Kanye rap. |
