Death @ Angel barely making Top 50. Shows how deep her catalogue is.

"Angel" was one of the first songs to be developed for Like a Virgin, when Madonna decided that she wanted a stronger, more pop-oriented sound. The lyrics are about... well, it's very self-explanatory.
It was released as the third single off Like a Virgin. It was moderately successful, reaching #5 in the US and the UK. A video was planned, but then they cancelled the project.
She performed it live at The Virgin Tour.
It's a nice song, with a captivating melody - 7 from me.

No to the former, yes to the latter.
Of the 4 singles on LAV, this is the only one that nobody really remembers. First of all, the hook is underwhelming, and second, it was completely overshadowed by its much superior b-side.

Nope, it's the third single from American Life. It was released as a double A-side with Love Profusion in the UK and Australia.

It seems to be very polarising. For me it should've been left at #70-something, or #60-something.
In this rate it has received ten 10s.

#46 - YOU'LL SEE
Average: 7.8056 - Highest: 10 (x4), Lowest: 3 (x1)
Writers: Madonna, David Foster
Producers: Madonna, David Foster
The song was done to promote the ballad compilation Something to Remember. Here's something that she said about it:
Quote:
So much controversy has swirled around my career this past decade that very little attention ever gets paid to my music. The songs are all but forgotten. While I have no regrets regarding the choices I've made artistically, I've learned to appreciate the idea of doing things in a simpler way. So without a lot of fanfare, without any distractions, I present to you this collection of ballads. Some are old, some are new. All of them are from my heart.
|
It was released as the lead single off this compilation, and managed to achieve moderate success: it peaked at #6 in the US nad #5 in the UK.
The only two live performances of this song I know are at the Top of The Pops (completely lipped. Don't waste your time) and at some concerts of the Drowned World Tour.
The video is basically a sequel for "Take a Bow": the cute Spanish guy she wanted now wants her back but she won't go back to him. That's pretty much it, as far as I remember.
It's a good ballad. 8 from me.
