avant-garde (French pronunciation: [avɑ̃ɡaʁd]) means "advance guard" or "vanguard".[1] The adjective form is used in English to refer to people or works that are experimental or innovative, particularly with respect to art, culture, and politics.
|
If she's talking about music then can someone explain how is Born This Way avant-garde, experimental or innovative? Not only it is a carbon copy of Express Yourself but the lyrics, specially the chorus, are pretty much a rewrite of Christina's Beautiful
Nothing gaga said in this interview makes any sense, it seems she's just mad that other "metaphoric" inspirational songs were bigger than BTW

It's must certanly not. And even if it was, it hasn't affected her career, so whatever.

Beyoncé, in my opinion has been influenced a bit by Gaga and it shows in the video for RTW, but Bey has never really changed all that much

I think Rih w/ her look mostly. Around 2009/2010 she ditched basic Rihanna and started going for a more bold look. And I dunno about Brit, it seems she takes more heed to Ke$ha (who wouldn't really exist if it weren't for LG)/Katy sound wise.

For me it's pretty, completely obvious that she changed the way things work nowadays on Pop Music in general.
(when I say "pop music", this also expands to fashion, videos, performances, everything. isn' this what pop is all about?)
If she didn't, we wouldn't even be discussing the meaning of "avant-garde", here in ATRL, a pop music forum. I mean, let's se... what was "avant-garde" about I Kissed a Girl, Shut Up and Drive and Gimme More videos? Now we get videos like E.T., like Hold It Against Me, and stuff.
But no, there's absolutely nothing "avant-garde" about her music. She should work on that and make her music fit a lot more with her ideas about stuff.
Only time will tell. :\

Beyoncé actually admitted that she's been observing, so I wouldn't be surprised if Gaga was one of those people.
I don't see how the RTW video is influenced by Gaga though.

If it had been hidden in a bunch of metaphors it would have been atrocious and boring and it would have mean nothing
The minute you start hiding the message of the track, or use stupid metaphors, well then all you get is 'Just Dance' with a soul, and it already has a soul.

She is so nice

It's become trendy now - and it's my fault - or cool, to be avant-garde. Or be daring in everything you do. I'm speaking specifically about pop music here

She is so humble
But as a fan I don't care as long as she's willing to hug me

Ok maybe Kesha and Nicki Minaj, but they born after Gaga was relevant, so if anything they copied her

As for the music, I haven't listened the 1st song that is similar to Bad Romance or Paparazzi on the radio

Just like Gaga said, people call her arrogant because she's woman, and if she was a man, she'd be considered confident and secure. She creates her music from scratch and she takes it seriously. She knows what she does is good and she's not afraid to admit it. No one seems to have this big of a problem with Kanye West.
