I can't stand that flat performance. She's singing it like she's in some sort of hurry with no build up to the whistle note.
The Grammy version >>>

Thanks.
Although I've been in love with her Stronger performance on that UK morning show. Her high notes and her register was insane. Easily her best WDKY performance ever; just a little over her MMVAs one.

I was debating that for a bit. Just hearing the whistle note was amazing. But her Grammys was much more richer, truthfully.

Boy, Kelly's getting a lot of press about the Jane Austen ring drama. Mostly everyone is on her side though.
----------------------------------------------------
Anyway, tour starts today!! Can't wait to see some videos and hear how it went
Maroon 5 Talks 'Fun' Summer Tour with Kelly Clarkson
"I think it's gonna be a great show," Valentine says. "I mean, Kelly is one of the greatest performers of our time. Think about how long she's been around now. What a freakin' voice. It's going to be awesome to go on after her every night, 'cause that's gonna really force us to bring it. When there's a great performer in front of us it kinda lights a fire under our ass. I know we had that on this last (North American) run with Neon Trees; Tyler Glenn was out there doing his full Freddie Mercury, and I think it pushed Adam to reach deeper every night. I know Kelly will force that, too."

About this ring deal, even if they don't allow her to take it. I think Kelly should still keep it & not re-sell unless required. I mean, she owns a piece of history which is quite rare. How cool is that?

30,000 K more for the 500,000 mark. If it keeps selling 4,000 a week, in 7-8 weeks, it'll reach that milestone.

I agree about the ring! She should keep it and leave it at a museum and when she goes to the UK she can take it out.
This might be an agreement they came up with? From what it sounds like if no one offers to buy it from her and the export ban expires, then Kelly will be allowed to take it home. Still super weird for them to claim a ring as a national treasure. If this was Jane's pen, typewriter or something like that, I'd understand, but it's just a ring - nothing to do with her work. They didn't care about it before it was auctioned, so why care about it now because Kelly owns it?

Countries sell their companies, their banks, their sports teams, but when it comes to a ring... It's not like she wanted to buy Buckingham Palace to turn it into an amusement park.

^^^ they should've told Kelly that before she bought it. The government should've claimed it before it went on auction. Really stupid on their part. I hope Kelly will hold on to it.

See, I'd be happy to see it go to a museum & Kc can wear it when she's there because it is a national treasure. what I don't understand is why they would sell it in the first place if it has such value? they surely would've known the risks when they sold it or Kelly didn't read the fine print when she brought it. I've got a feeling the ban didn't happen until after purchase? her reaction about it in an interview awhile ago but i can't remember came across as if she didn't realise until after purchase.

She's a HUGE figure here in the UK, i'm guessing they just want to keep all stuff relating to her, here in the UK, which I totally understand and agree with. It should go in a museum or something, it would be sad for the ring to be passed down through Kelly's family, maybe lost, or end up in some random American place when it's a piece of British history belonging to one of the most iconic women.
|
Yes, I knew about the face on currency thing
However, it's just lame to do it after the fact. Jane Austen's own family put it up for auction. If those people wanted the ring, they should have purchased it. I mean Kelly found out about the auction and bid online, where were those people at? It said there's three other pieces of jewellery owned by Austen, so why don't they just keep those? The article also said Kelly bought a first edition of "Persuasion" Funny they don't care about the actual literature, just a simple gold ring lol.
Also, lets not pretend UK museums and royals don't have art that rightfully belongs to other countries in their possessions Kelly will probably sell it though. At least she has the replica Brandon gave her and that one has diamonds

I hope she doesn't sell it! The replica thing was cute but honestly it's just like putting jewels around a replica of the Mona Lisa.

The analogy Not even in the same league. Jane's ring is just a ring Jane passed to her sister after she died and it's a very simple gold ring with turquoise. It's not really that valuable. In price nor in her history. But I do hope she keeps it. It's just a cool thing to own.

North & South her cat claws ready to scratch.
Really though, the way I see it, the government is wasting a lot of time over a simple ring. Jane's real legacy is in her literature.
