It reeks of racism, like I said. Always undervaluing Latino music and its impact.

You know, the best way is to ignore. They are pressed because their faves wish they could be as relevant and as iconic as Shakira. It's obvious Shakira sold way more than what this website claims. We, fans, know it. Let them be happy while Shakira gets her millions.

Shakira was, and still being huge here in Latinamerica. She's that kind of artist that everyone (even your grandfather) knows. During the PD and DELL eras everything here seemed to be about her and her music. It was like "The Fame" or "21" hype three eras in a row (including LS).
When you thought " it is impossible to be more successful than that," she returned even more successful, over, and over again.

Pies Descalzos: 4-5m
Donde Estan Los Ladrones?: 5-6m
Unplugged: 1.5m-2m
Grandes Exitos: around 2m
So no, she has not sold 50m albums. Only the delusional believed that. But these numbers this Mediatraffic guy (again, it's literally one guy) has are innacurate.

Media Traffic: if you work in the music-biz (like i do) then you would know, that labels deliberately exaggerate the sales of their protégés... that's an open secret

Media Traffic ...and by the way, especially for her both spanish-language albums 'Pies Descalzos' and 'Dónde Están Los Ladrones?' we have many exactly sales-informations from Shakira's biggest markets in South-and Middle-America. .. and the sales of both albums in these territories were really stellar (around 2,5 -3 million each) surely two of the best-selling albums there in history

So he's saying Ladrones sold 2.5-3m in Latin America, and then we KNOW it sold over 800k in the US...which means 3.8m total? Already 300k higher than his total, without taking into account any sales in Europe or other parts of the world What a mess

They know **** about everything pre LS. Could have asked some random people on the street to make sales estimations for those albums . And not them thinking because those are spanish language albums they didn't sell outside of Latin America. So, 3M in LA, but what's with the rest of the world? If they ever visited on of her shows they would know that every fan here in Europe knows the lyrics of her classics. MT simply don't get what kind of artist Shakira is.

Media Traffic: PD and DELL sold not much outside the spanish-speaking territories, but what i wrote above, over 3 million sales only in the spanish-speaking territories is very, very huge...

Well, DELL and PD have sold a little less than 1M in the US alone according to Billboard. If that's "not much outside of spanish speaking countries" . They pretty much admitted that those sales figures for DELL and PD are from the 90ies and they don't know about her catalog sales. Where are her 4 DVD's? They are missing, too. That figure for MTV Unplugged is deflated (or doesn't include DVD).

This is getting better and better on MT FB. Asked about HDL they say didn't sell more than 7M. Than admits they didn't include Ringtones (which where huge for HdL). Than explains that there was no demand for singles outside of US/Europe before mid-2000's...that's why HdL Sales are so low. WELL, Baby, Hips don't lie was released in 2006...

And "Spanish speaking" doesn't include Brazil (or maybe he's just ignorant?) either.

Ringtone sales are only included when there are certifications for them, otherwise you can't know them.

MTV Unplugged is certfied 4x Latin Platinum in the US = 400.000 Copies. That 1M Figure ww can't be correct. Adjust DELL/PD/MTV Unplugged/The Reximes Sales, add Catalog Sales and add all of her Live CD's/VHS/DVD's/Blue Ray's and you have 50M Sales.

Welp! The struggle to still inflate her sales are hilarious. Not the Mediatraffic supporters turning against Mediatraffic because they didn't inflate their faves album sales.

These are the only official ones: ARG 120,000 + BRA 250,000 + US 596,000. Mediatraffic gave it an additional 2.5 million, pretty generous in my opinion considering it was local to Latin American and even if its catalogue sales are so great as you claim, they wouldn't add 4 million copies. GET REAL!
All this time we have asked for official sources to back up those supposed 5/6 million, yet we haven't received any...

Mediatraffic have never been a accurate with their estimations about smaller markets outside of North America/Europe/Japan. They have been backtracking on Mediatraffic several times on Facebook since the release. The only official source for Shakira's Shipments is the Label which operates with 60M. Shakira is not your average local North American Pop Star.
IFPI have just confirmed in their annual Report for 2014, that Shakira. had sold 900.000 Units in 2014. Mediatraffic had it at 750.000. Proves again how much MT underestimate Shakira's Sales in Latin America.

But . The Albums have not been recertified since late 90s. That doesn't mean they stopped selling. It should be common knowledge on a music forum. MT didn't "give her 2.5M", they said they have official SOURCES for 3M Sales in Latin America. So, the global sales cannot be 3.5M.
