The first solo single - and lead to boot - to bite the dust, Well, Well, Well was released in anticipation of Duffy's sophomore disc, Endlessly. She wrote and produced the song with Albert Hammond (who's son is a Stroke), with Stuart Price adding something unspecified to the mix. It was a quite controversial choice at the time, as the throwback sound was not what was en vogue at radio in the fall of 2010. Additionally, Duffy drew great criticism for her vocal approach to the song, with her use of vibrato so big one can drive a truck through it. Duffy was unphased, though, and wanted a more rhythmic sound to this song and to its parent album. As she explained to the BBC:

I want to make people move this time on this record. I played so many live shows that I wanted to feel that we could have a really uptempo gig. So for me I've done nothing but possibly improve, and really know where it is I want to put myself. I recorded this with lots of different people and a few different locations, two of which I am really proud of.

This song performed (no need for an adverb here) all over the world, not quite reaching the top ten of almost any country it was released in. In the UK, where her previous lead single Mercy had gone straight to number one, WWW charted at forty one. So nice lateral movement.
This was the first and last single released from the album.
Fun fact: Questlove plays drums on this!

You'll both be surprised, then, at which Frank song makes the top twenty.

Didn't Duffy give up on the album after this miserably flopped?

She knew the Adele years were coming. She got out ahead of time. Smart girl.

Technically it is tomorrow sister.
This next one makes me sad. Not because of its quality (Or lack thereof), but just because.
You guys.

That Body & Soul duet is a hot mess as well.

Tony Bennett and Amy Winehouse - Body and Soul
Average: 6.797
Highest Score: 10 (1x)
Lowest Score: 2 (1x)
A jazz standard for the last seventy years, in 2011 Body and Soul was introduced to newer audiences as the lead off single from Tony Bennett's Duets II. The original first single from Bennett's album was to be his collaboration with Lady Gaga, The Lady is a Tramp, but was changed to this after Amy's untimely passing.
I think we all can admit that it doesn't work. There's little to no chemistry, and both singers are trying a bit too hard. But I can understand why it got the rates it did. I can't believe this is the last time we'll hear that voice.

Those first 15 or so seconds of "Well, Well, Well" might be my favorite thing Duffy has ever done. I guess I'm alone in that love.

Oh, I didn't know "The Lady is a Tramp" was to be the first single - I never understood why it wasn't, I really love it.
"Body and Soul" is nice.

I don't know. There's just something so sweet and touching about it that really moved me. That's why I gave it a 9.

Not bad. But not good.
This was snubbed. I like it, it is nice and mellow. Definite 8.
No. Loved it. 9.
This was a disappointment. A real bore.

I'm annoyed that I just discovered this thread now.
One question, why wasn't "Right as Rain" included in the rate?

Florence and the Machine and Dizzee Rascal - You've Got the Dirtee Love
Average Rate: 6.828
Highest Score: 10 (1x)
Lowest Score: 1 (1x)
Picture this. February 16th, 2010. London. The 30th Annual Brit Awards. Lady Gaga, the presumed massive winner of the night, was making her first public appearance since the death of her creative collaborator, Alexander McQueen. Cheryl Cole, then the nation's sweetheart, was performing for the first time since her husband got caught cheating - again. Jay-Z and Alicia Keys, two BIG international stars were set to rock the stage. To top it off, Robbie Williams was being presented with the Outstanding Contribution to British Music award, and would close out the show.
But who could everyone not stop talking about the day after? An unlikely collaboration between the new Queen of Art Rock, Florence Welsh, and the UK's own grime master *** huge rapper, Dizzee Rascal. A live mashup of their songs - her take on Candi Staton's You've Got the Love and his Dirtee Cash - was so popular that the live version was immediately released to iTunes. It charted at number two, and became one of the biggest hits of both their careers.
And yet, it's here. So low. Underneath so many other songs. For shame ATRL. For shame.

Gah, WHY?! You're being much too kind, Ace. I mean, it didn't even crack the top 50! What in the hell...
