If the rumor turns out to be true, then yeah, it was kinda genius.
Front-loaded promo is not good, at all, especially with a song that'd need time to grow on people (like PI).

Now I see the reason behind the song election, the music video. She's trying not to put people off by doing Gaga. She's known about the Super Bowl for a while so she wanted to make sure nothing turned football viewers off. She couldn't go all gay-pop-friendly she had to be neutral and appeal to everyone, didn't matter if they liked the music or not. I'm sure there's stil some Gaga in her, but she's also a businesswoman!

In fact, no. She's making the music that she likes and that's it. It's not about "being too gay" lmao. Perfect Illusion is a very gay song, probably one of the gayest songs judging by some of the little pieces of info we've got from the Release Party
