I hoped it would but it had very little chance against In The Lonely Hour. Dark Horse losing to Say Something didn't really surprise me. The thing with SS was that a lot of the predictions of websites had it dead last and Fancy/DH at the top

The stages for each of them seem to be very different.

She seems to be gaining some more vocal control over her songs and seems slightly more comfortable on stage which is great.

That crowd is dead af . I wonder why she's choosing to do these small shows though More importantly, how much is she getting for these.

You could see these private shows as rehearsals for tour. I hope she's getting well paid.

Royals was more successful than Roar (at least at its peak), Say Something was less successful than DH.

Success clearly doesn't have much to do with their final decision.

Yeah. I wouldn't be surprised if it was entirely just monetary gain with a side benefit of vocal/stage enhancing in order to have her feel more confident in her voice and deliver more comfortable/consistent performances.
