What MC needs to do is shift the narrative from the diva personality to her passion as an artist. She's not relatable to the GP at all. She needs to get back to interviews where she's talking about songwriting and her drive and doesn't spend half the interview talking about splashes and her difficult pregnancy.

The image/narrative shakeup will be imperative for any era launch but I feel that it wont take too much to do that, especially since the GP suffers from short term memory. The team is already doing a good job of controlling the press and containing negativity. I think what they should do before an album era is really lay the ground work of this new narrative. There's a lot about Mariah herself that she doesnt even need to change personalities to be more likeable and a lot of her background that only her older fans and stans know would be impactful like her upbringing, her artistry, being a mother etc. So I would say the majority of the work would be interview training to make them more substantive than over the top. She can always bring out ComedienneRIAH for fun little sketches on late night television for viral videos (and we know they work well for her).
We can't ignore the role the label plays in this though. You can have a stellar album (which I'm sure she will produce) but if you're not a priority where they are willing to invest, no amount of narrative change will get the public to listen since they are not pushing the music anyway.
