From The Editor's Desk: Why Taylor Swift Is Good For Country Music
Quote:
Taylor Swift serves as a 'gateway drug' to the genre we all love and cherish. Yes, she writes those Pop-filled melodies and the new song is really catchy and unlike anything heard on country radio but weren't many of the songs from the likes of Cline, Parton, Twain and Brooks too? Yes, they were. That's what makes Taylor Swift a ground-breaking, once in a lifetime artist like these legends of music. She doesn't follow the 'mold', she breaks it.
Taylor should make a video like Runaway. Just combine all the songs about John Mayer and create a story based off of that. The video would be beyond amazing
If it costs $17 on iTunes... and they never discount it......
I really don't get why they would do this unless they want to see her sales dip. They seemed to have learned nothing from the Speak Now era in regards to pricing.
Donna Kessinger Hi Taylor...I used to like you but it seems that you are rapidly moving away from country music...this is not good. Loved your first album, but the new stuff is getting monotonous. You will be 23 soon and you are still writing songs about middle school and high school. I think you should hang around the Kennedy's for a while...they have great subject matter for mature country songs...lying, cheating, illegitimate children, money, suicide, scandal, bootlegging, politicking, untimely deaths,...you are dating a boy whose mother committed suicide...this is great subject for a country song...sad and true to life. Get into the families feelings about this and write me a good mature country song. I hope that at least one song on your new album is somewhat country.I know you will always succeed...you just have it all...but you are losing a large fan base of the 30 and older crowd. Good luck in the bubble gum pop disney world...
thats probably the worst thought i have have ever heard! what kind of person says that?? she might have said some things here without meaning to, but its still ROUGH!
My favorite comment from the haters.
"Why do you write/sing pop songs and call it country??! Cos they're not! Not even pop-country, where Lady A, Carrie, Luke Bryan, Shania have done pop-country but they have more country. Im sorry, and Im not trying to be mean."
