I'm sure SM was crawling with a million Krystal's and very few Amber's that could have been the fifth member in another skirt. She is a tomboy, not a lesbian (and that's me assuming to begin with) as far as SM are concerned
Key pushing boundaries?
You mean JoKwon? Even still, he's not pushing boundaries. His personality is viewed as comedy, for the TV screen, fitting of an idol. It's not something A LOT (not everyone) of people would accept for everyday people in Korea. Hell, that kind of personality is still looked down on in the Western world too, in the LGBT community itself. Let alone Korea...

I don't think it's even SM's statement to make. I think Amber's style is her own, and SM merely goes along with it because it adds to f(x)'s quirky/odd system. That's what I meant, I don't think it has anything to do with sexuality but their image is odd and therefore powerful because unless I'm mistaken, Amber is the only "tomboy" out of the bigger female groups in k-pop.
Yeah, Key is pushing boundaries. He's completely himself and is into fashion, hair, etc and that makes him different from the standard male, especially when he's a public figure of sorts. To me, that's pushing boundaries. It's true that "femininity" isn't as tied to sexuality in Korea but his interests are prominent enough to raise questions in Korea (apparently his "wife" on one of the reality shows was really suspicious that he wasn't into women).

Yup, that's true. Hence why it's all the more impressive that Key (and JoKwon if that's more fitting for you) can express himself the way he wants to and doesn't bother with society's opinion. Even if they're all laughing at him, he has the balls to be himself and as I said, to me, that's pushing boundaries. It's rare to have someone who's so confident in themselves especially when the rest of the world is giving them a permanent side-eye. We need more people who aren't afraid to take the plunge and make the world around them rethink why we act the way we do.
