Country songs can still sell because the demographic that listens to country still buys music pretty frequently.

That used to be true. Country album sales and single sales are weaker now than they used to be. Even country superstars like Lady Antebellum and Sugarland are selling like garbage lately.

Well you literally only need to sell 50-60K per week to get #10 on HDS now. Which would mean 1 day sales of 7-8.5K would give you Top 10 on iTunes.
So it's gonna start being really normal to see random artists, or artists who'd have no chance to go Top 10 1 or 2 years ago go Top 10 on iTunes as soon as they release stuff.
