Regrets collect like old friends
Here to relive your darkest moments
I can see no way, I can see no way
And all of the ghouls come out to play
And every demon wants his pound of flesh
But I like to keep some things to myself
I like to keep my issues drawn
It's always darkest before the dawn
Looks like the last nail in the coffin
And if you ask me the last blow's the hardest
You and me, we've been everything
Partners, lovers, friends, even enemies
And after everything you're still blaming me
Guess the scapegoat's the part I have to play
But my rotten heart has confused the way
Put my problems in my mouth, hope they melt away
I know I'm the one to blame
Should've step back, shouldn't touch the flame
Now that it's over I guess you win
I'll wish for your heart cause you're made of tin
Wait! wait! I take it back, I don't wanna fight
Our battles leave me scarred, I can't sleep at night
I'll leave you alone if I have the truth
You're part of me, but all I have to do is
Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh whoa
Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh whoa
And it's hard to dance with a devil on your back
So shake him off, oh whoa
Words echo when they're left unheard
And Hearts bleed when they're not returned
A Pack of wolves out for your scent
I follow them down to my descent
Aimless, I'm a zombie with no direction
Feeding on your flesh is my affliction
The addict I've become is so atrocious
Stuck in between of all your doses
Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh whoa
Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh whoa
And it's hard to dance with a devil on your back
So shake him off, oh whoa
And it's hard to dance with a devil on your back
And given half the chance would I take any of it back
It's a fine romance but it's left me so undone
It's always darkest before the dawn
Oh whoa, oh whoa...
Looking back now, never looking back now
It's a tragedy no ones got your back now
I wanted you but now I'm gonna back down
Its about time I lifted from the ground
At the end of the day I'll never forget you
My heart beats still, when I realize I lost you
I can't stop now I'm moving too fast
Can't keep holding on to things in the past
Picking up the pieces I'm picking myself up
Just because you let go, doesn't mean you're giving up
Bout to set you free, it's what you wanted all this time
I'm not doing ok but im gonna be fine
Looking back now, never looking back now
Looking back now, never looking back now
Looking back now, never looking back now
Looking back, I'm never looking back now!
Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh whoa
Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh whoa
And it's hard to dance with a devil on your back
So shake him off, oh whoa
Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh whoa
Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh whoa
And it's hard to dance with a devil on your back
So shake him off, oh whoa
I posted the lyrics, but here is the finished product of a song I produced/wrote. I'll be releasing more stuff in the future too! Any comments/critiques appreciated

So I've been...ignoring, this thread, but I decided I want to give some attention to it, so here it is! Once in a while, I will propose a point of discussion. For now, I decided the conversation point will be creative muses.
Do any of you have a favorite inspiration you look to for your work? It can be a person, a place, an event, etc. For me, I feel my best work comes from a place in my emotions. I tend to feel that I rarely have people to talk to, so writing about it helps a lot. I even wrote a song about not having anyone to talk to; I think it went over pretty well!
As a follow-up: What is the weirdest thing you've been inspired by? I myself once wrote a song inspired by an...animation...that I watched. It's still one of my favorites! I also have wrote a few songs based on dreams I have. It's honestly such a powerful feeling even though I think the lyrics are kinda bad.

1st - I am inspired the most by dark emotions in myself, mostly depression, anger and insecurity and often I feel inspired by situations that sorround me for example... homophobia.
2ND - The weirdest thing ... I have one song which is called ''Dogpie'' which is pretty much about that feeling that you get when you see a cute dog and you wanna hug him so hard that you want to kill him and eat it.... I don't know what happened... but it's a cool pop song.
In other news, I would like to share with you the first song I am going to officially record in a professional studio with a friend of mine and it's called 'Black Hole' and it's inspired by homophobia, the instrumental of the song (which is unfinished) I posted it on the Producer's thread if someone wants to hear it and give me some feedback
Lilith's son coming undo
Take all sin and go
Men of glass relying on stone
In my back scars for us
Ah Ah Ah
Grand Black Hole
Lost in sight now
Lilith's son crying outloud
Among stars I'm laying down
Preachers say obscure lies
In their lap the result of that
Ah Ah Ah
Grand Black Hole
Lost in sight now
Why can't we be
Why can't I
Why can't we be
Night?

My biggest inspiration for my work is definitely just the people around me. I have to remain closeted at the moment so I don't really have many people to express my true feelings to. This makes it easier for me to let my heart take the lead and get some lyrics down. For example I had my first true crush on someone just a few months ago so i've written a few lyrics about how they make me feel like in my pursuit of confidentiality (being closeted) I had almost forgotten how to love someone and they opened my eyes. It sounds cliché but it's honestly the most beautiful thing to me right now, and i'm glad I could capture it in a song
Hey guys so I'm working on a very new concept right now! It's basically these melodic vocal songs I'm writing on the piano that I'm transforming so they become dissonant and angst-filled. (This is purely hobby, I'm not trying to like release anything lol!! so I can do whatever I want) It's fairly avant-garde. I haven't recorded anything but I might just do the songs with voice and piano only.
Is there anyone who in the future would be willing to give some advice when I finish some stuff? Also, what would be a good album name / alias for that description? Let me know if it sounds interesting to you!

That sounds AWESOME! Try to experiment with it, find an emotion attach with it and maybe you can get the name of the project right there... I wouldn't be able to tell you exactly or give you advice since I haven't heard it but If you ever record something let me know! I am always up to listen to angry piano avant garde stuff!

Negativity is my creative muse. I suffer depression and I write better when I'm having a low moment. I haven't had too many of them lately which is good for me but bad for my writing
My main muse is myself. Sounds egotistical but whenever I write about something not connected to me it goes over terribly. I've channeled it in many different ways. It's always about me doing something, lacking/wanting something, or feeling something.
I had an idea, tell me if any of you would do this/think it's a good idea
Since Platinum Hit only runs half of the year and gets rid of contestants so fast, I was thinking we could do like monthly lyric writing contests when PH is out of season where you write just one song, no one is eliminated, and you just go again the next month.
Instead of having judges each writer would rank all the other songs (posted anonymously) to determine placement. Instead of having strict challenges there would just be general themes (summer, love songs, etc)
If it happened it would probably start in like August
