e.g. Rafael Nadal = Rafa, Victoria Azarenka = Vika, Novak Djokovic = Nole, Maria Sharapova = Masha
Would those be allowed in the same vein as Bey for Beyonce and Rih for Rihanna?

Those aren't really nicknames, just diminutives of their real name, so yes it's allowed.

Yeah that's why I'm asking if they can be used, because they are internationally used terms (even in journalism and commentary), and highly recognizable
Obviously, these wouldn't include nicknames like Nadull or GOATrena, etc.
